Rico Creative Bubble is a funny yarn that creates spongy effects. The synthetic yarn has hard hairs that give a rough spongy effect. Fortunately this yarn is soft enough to crochet with and it's super easy to make a cheerful buddy!

Annemarie was inspired by the summer season for making her sea creatures. Because how much fun is it to play around with water and your favourite toys at the beach or water park?. Sea Creatures - Free Crochet Pattern

Materials:

Stitches used:
Ch.         =             Chain
Sc.          =             Single crochet
Sl.st.      =             Slip stitch
Hdc.       =             Half double crochet
Dc.         =             Double crochet
Trc.        =             Triple crochet

Note: The octopus and the fish will be made out of one piece. There is no need to join separate parts.

Crochet Pattern Octopus

Crochet Sea Creatures Free crochet Pattern OctopusStart at the top of the octopus.

Round 1: With colour mint sc. 6 in a magic ring, or start the following way; ch. 2, sc. 6 in the first ch. Sl.st. 1 in the first sc. such that you get a round of 6 sts. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 18 (18 sts.)
Round 5: Sc. 2 in each 3rd st. (24 sts.)
Rounds 6 - 9: Sc. 24 each round (24 sts.)
Round 10: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 3rd and 4th st. tog. (18 sts.)
Round 11: Sc. 18 (18 sts.) Before you continue attach the safety eyes between round 8 and 9.
Round 12: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. tog. (12 sts.)
Round 13: Sc. 12 (12 sts.)
Round 14: You’re going to make the tentacles. Work this round in the front loops such that you get single loops on the inside of your work.
*Sl.st. 1 in the first st., ch. 26. Go back on the foundation chain and sc. 2 in each st. Sl.st. 1 in the 2nd st.*. Repeat from *to* another 5 times. Leave a longer end yarn on your work. You’ll notice that your work starts to curl. Twist the curls clockwise to make them even more curly. Cut some yarns of the same colour to stuff the octopus. Draw the end yarn through round 14 and pull the hole at the bottom tight.

Adjusting the pattern to make a princess

Work rounds 1 - 3 of the pattern in colour yellow.
In round 4 change to colour melon and work in the back loops. This way you get single loops on the outside of your work.

Before you attach the safety eyes in round 9, start with crocheting the crown.
Cast on a new yarn of colour yellow in the outside loops of round 4. Insert your hook from bottom to top.

In the first st. *Sl.st. 1. Sc. 1, hdc. 1 in the 2nd st. Ch. 2, sl.st. 1 in the first ch. (this way you’ll get a little point) Hdc. 1 and sc. 1 in the same st.* Sl.st. 1 in the 3rd and 4th st. You’re going to work the middle point now. In the 5th st. sc. 1, hdc.  1, dc. 1. Ch. 2, sl.st. 1 in the first ch. (this way you’ll get a little point) Dc. 1, hdc. 1 and sc. 1 in the 6th st. Sl.st. 1 in the 7th and 8th st. Repeat from *to* in the 9th st. Sl.st. 1 in all other remaining sts. Cast off and weave in the ends.
Place the safety eyes at the front of the face.

Adjusting the pattern to make a pirate

Work rounds 1 - 5 of the pattern in colour red.
Round 6: Sc. 21. Work the 22nd sc. only in the front loop such that a single loop is created on the inside of your work. Sl.st. 1. Ch. 7, sl.st. 6 back on the foundation chain. Work the 23rd sc. also in the front loop only. Ch. 9. Sl.st. 8 back on the foundation chain. Change for the 24th sc. to colour light blue. Work the rest of the octopus according to the pattern, for round 7 you can work sc. in the single loops of round 22 and 23.

After round 9 attach 1 safety eye and a safety nose as the second eye. Keep in mind the direction of the headscarf. Tie a knot in the ends of the crocheted cords of the headscarf.

Start at the top of the fish.

Round 1: With colour green sc. 6 in a magic ring, or start the following way; ch. 2, sc. 6 in the first ch. Sl.st. 1 in the first sc. such that you get a round of 6 sts. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 2 in each 3rd st. (24 sts.)
Rounds 5 and 6: Sc. 24v each round (24 sts.)
Round 7: Sc. 2 in each 4rd st. (30 sts.)
Round 8: Sc. 2 in each 5th st. (36 sts.)
Round 9: In this round you will start with the fins on the side and the first part of the tail.
Sc. 1. Work the next 3 sts. in the front loops such that single loops are created on the inside of your work. *Sc. 1 and hdc. 1 in the next st. Dc. 1, trc. 1, dc. 1 in the next st. Hdc. 1 and sc. 1 in the next st.* Sc. 7.
Work the next 3 sts. in the front loops. Sl.st. 1, ch. 16. Sc. 2 in each ch. Repeat this another 2x in the next 2 sts. Sc. 7. Repeat from *to* for the other fin. Sc. 12 until the end of the round.
Round 10: Change to colour mint. Sc. 36. Work through the back loops of the fins and tails. (36 sts.)
Round 11: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 5th and 6th st. tog. (30 sts.)
Round 12: Sc. 30. Make 2 curls at the same height as the tail. Work these in the front loops just like round 9. Ch. 12 for these curls. (30 sts.) Before you continue place the safety eyes at the front of the fish between round 8 and 9.
Round 13: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 4th and 5th st. tog. (24 sts.)
Round 14: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 3rd and 4th st. tog. (18 sts.)
Round 15: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. tog. (12 sts.) Cast off and leave a longer yarn on your work.

Twist the curls clockwise to make them even more curly. Cut some yarns of the same colour and stuff the fish. Draw the end yarn through round 15 and pull the hole at the bottom tight.
