This top is made in 2 parts that later on will be joined together. The hems will be crocheted with a sand stitch and the rest of the top the wedge stitch will be used. The rows of the wedge stitch are joined at some places, making this summer top airy and light. The motif of the wedge stitch kind of look like the leaves of an ivy plant.

Pick your favourite colour or make a combination of different shades! You can choose to work 2 rows in one colour, and the other 2 rows in a different colour. This way you'll get a pattern that look likes crossed diamonds.

Materials

Stitches used
Ch. = Chain
Sl.st. = Slip stitch
Sc. = Single crochet
Hdc. = Half double crochet
Dc. = Double crochet
Trc. = Triple crochet
Dtc. = Double treble crochet

For this pattern the sand stitch will be used for the hems and the wedge stitch will be used for the most part.
The sand stitch must be a multiple of 2 + 1 st. plus 2 sts. for the foundation chain.
The wedge stitch must be a multiple of 6 + 1.
So the foundation chain which you use to start must be a multiple of 6.

Gauge
Using the wedge stitch with crochet hook no. 3mm 10 x 10 cm = 23 sts. x 8 rows.

Before you start you need to measure your chest and hip size. Decide which one of these is the largest and take the largest measurement as a guideline.

Example:
Chest = 82 cm
Hips = 86 cm
In this example we take the hip size of 86 cm. We divide this by 2 yielding 44 cm. On these measurements we'll adjust the foundation chain. Make a foundation chain that is 44 cm long (do not pull the chain but lay it flat on your table while measuring). Suppose this will be 75 ch. This is not a multiple of 6. Round this number up until it is, in this example we get 78 ch. To give the top a little extra room we add 6 more ch. This way we yield a total of 84 ch. + 1 ch. + 2 ch. for the foundation. We'll get 87 ch. in total.
