This knitting pattern of Phil Douce can be used for babies from 3 to 24 months old. so it is suitable for the small as well as the bigger babies. It is also very nice to give as a present on a baby shower or for baby's first birthday!
What do you need?
Pick here your favourite ball out of the 22 colours of Phil Douce.
Materials:
- 4 balls A) 3/6 months - B) 5 balls 12 months - C) 6 balls 18/24 months Phildar Phil Douce.
- Knitting needles nr. 5 and 4,5 cm
- Stitch ring markers
- Wool needle
Trial Patch:
10 x 10 cm stocking stitch = 14 stitches and 23 needles.
Stitches used:
Simple decrease on the 1 side stitches: right: 1 knit, knit 2 stitches together.
left: all stitches except the last 3, a simple pass slip stitch over (slip 1 stitch to the right, knit the next stitch and pass the slip stitch over the knitted stitch), 1 knit.
Knitting pattern for baby bathrob:
Back patch:
Cast on A) 40 B) 44 C) 48 stitches with knitting needle nr.5 and knit stocking stitch.
At A) 19 cm (44 needles) B) 24 cm (56 needles) C) 30,5 cm (70 needles) total height, for the armholes cast off every 2nd needle on both sides 1 x 2 stitches and 2 x 1 stitches.
Remaining: A) 32 B) 36 C) 40 stitches.
At A) 31,5 cm (72 needles) B) 38 cm (88 needles) C) 46 cm (106 needles) total height, for the shoulder cast off every 2nd needle on both sides:
A) 1x5 stitches and 1 x 4 stitches
B) 2 x 5 stitches
C) 2 x 5 stitches
At the same time, for the neck, cast off the middle A) 14 B) 16 C) 20 stitches.
Front right patch:
Cast on A) 32 B) 34 C) 36 stitches with knitting needles nr.5 in stocking stitch.
At A) 11,5 cm (26 needles) B) 17 cm (40 needles) C) 25 cm (58 needles) total height, for the sloping edges cast off 1x1 at one stitch at the right side, then 6 needles up: cast off 1x1, every 4th needle: cast off 7x1 and every 2th needle: cast off 2 x 1.
Meanwhile at A) 19 cm (44 needles) B) 24 cm (56 needles) C) 30,5 cm (70 needles) totale height, for the armhole cast off on both sides 1 x 2 stitches and 2 x 1 stitches.

Sleeves:

B) every 12th needle: 3 x 1 and 10 needles up: 1 x 1

At A) 20 cm (46 needles) B) 24 cm (56 needles) C) 26,5 cm (62 needles) total height, for the arm cap cast off every 2th needle on both sides:

Hood:
Cast on A) 59 B) 63 C) 63 stitches with knitting needles nr.5 and knit in stocking stitch.
At A) 13 cm (30 needles) B) 15 cm (34 needles) C) 16,5 cm (38 needles) total height, cast of the middle stitch, continue knitting with the left side stitches and cast off every 2nd needle: left (outer side) 4 x 2 stitches, 1 x 3 stitches and 1 x 4 stitches.
Right (inside) 3 x 1 stitches and 2 x 2 stitches.
At A) 18 cm (42 needles) B) 20 cm (46 needles) C) 21,5 cm (50 needles) total height, cast off the remaining A) 7 B) 9 C) 9 stitches.
Cast on the stitches 'waiting' stitches on the right and end the opposite way.
Waistband:
Cast on 14 stitches with knitting needle nr.4,5 and knit A) 90 B) 96 C)102 in stocking stitch. Then, cast off all stitches.
Finishing touch:
Pin the parts of the robe at the desirable pattern size and steam them. The seams must be closed. The purl stocking stitch is going to be on the good side of your work.
Close the shoulder- and side seams, and close the arm seams. Close the last 5 cm of the seam at the other side (for the lapels). Sew the arms in the armholes.
Close the seam of the hood from point A to the points B and sew the hood in the neck opening: the points B and C of the hood will be by those of the body.
Fold the waistband double in length and sew it together with sewing thread.
