This key chain makes your keys trendy! It is crocheted with the cheerful shades of Catania Fine who create a colourful bunch. Catania Fine is a 100% cotton and mercerized yarn, that gives a beautiful shine and feels extra soft. The subtle border of Durable embroidery and crochet cotton completes the chain. Both yarns are available in many different colours, so pick your favourite balls and create your personal key chain!
What do you need to crochet a key chain?
Material
- Crochet hook 2 mm
- 1 ball SMC Catania Fine colour 1010, 270 & 1020
- 1 ball Durable embroidery and crochet cotton colour 1004
- Snap hook (use one from an old key cord or key chain)
Stitches used:
ch = chain stitch
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
Crochet Pattern key chain:
Row 1: start with a magic ring, and in the ring work ch 2, sc 2, ch 2, *sc 3, ch 2*, repeat ** 2x. Close the row with a sl st.
Cut the yarn and pull through the loop.
Row 2: Attach a new colour in a ch 2 corner, and work ch 2, sc 1, ch 2, sc 2, ch 1. In the next ch 2 space, work *sc 2, ch 2, sc 2, ch 1*, repeat ** 2x. Close the row with a sl st.
Cut the yarn and pull through the loop. Change colour.
Row 3: Work sc in each st, and sc 3 in the corners. Close the row with a sl st, cut the yarn and pull through the loop.
Make 12 mini granny squares for this key chain.
Attach these with sl st’s on the wrong side of the work, until you have one long strip.
Along the 2 long sides, work a decorative border using Durable yarn as follows:
* sc 1, skip 1 st, dc 4 in next st, skip 1 st,* repeat ** to the end. Do the same on the other side.
Pull the strip through a snap hook and sl st the last 2 squares together. Sew a few stitches to fasten the granny squares to the snap hook, to avoid your key chain from slipping.
