We have transformed two basic children's clothing hangers into something completely new! Two sweet teddies to watch over your little one's favorite clothes. A perfect DIY-project to give dull clothing hangers a complete makeover: how cute to bring them to a baby shower as a gift to the new momma-to-be. You have complete control over the colour composition, so they are adaptable to your style and taste. Are you ready to try?

What do you need?

Materials: 
- 1 ball DMC Cotton Natura colour 45, 05 (boy), 32, 12 (girl), 03
- 1 ball Durable Embroidery and crochet cotton colour 1000
- leftover black yarn
- Crochet Hook 2
- Sewing needles
- Stuffing
- (Baby) Clothing Hanger

Stitches used:
ch          = chain stitch
sl st       = slip stitch
sc          = single crochet
trc         = triple crochet

Crochet a clothing hanger - Free Pattern

Ch 18 plus 1 turning ch.

Rows 1-4: sc 18 in pink (girl) or blue (boy)
Rows 5-7: sc 18 in green (girl) or purple (boy)
Repeat rows 5-7 18x, changing colour every 3 rows.
Rows 62-65: sc 18 in pink (girl) or blue (boy) Cut the yarn and pull through the loop.

Fold double and close the short sides with needle and thread. Turn inside out, to hide the seam. Locate the centre of the piece and pierce the hanger through it. Wrap the ends over the hanger. Close the long seam with sc’s (approx. 65 sts).

Decorative border:
Attach the Durable yarn in the corner.
*skip 1 st, trc 5 in next st, skip 1 st, sl st in next st*. Repeat ** to end.

Bear:
Arm (2x)
Start with a magic ring and sc 6 in the ring with colour 03.
Round 1: *sc 1, sc 2 in the next st*. Repeat ** (= 9 sts).
Rounds 2-3: sc 9. Change colour: pink (girl) or blue (boy)
Round 4: *sc 1, sc2tog.* Repeat ** (= 6 sts).
Rounds 5-8: sc 6. Bind off.
Attach the arms to the crocheted hanger cover approx. 0.5 cm on either side from the metal hanger.

Head
Start with a magic ring and sc 6 in the ring with colour 03.
Don’t pull the magical ring tight, but leave a small opening.
Round 1: sc 2 in each st (= 12 sts).
Round 2: *sc 1, sc 2 in the next st*. Repeat ** (= 18 sts).
Round 3: *sc 2, sc 2 in the next st*. Repeat ** (= 24 sts).
Round 4: *sc 3, sc 2 in the next st*. Repeat ** (= 30 sts).
Rounds 5-7: sc 30.
Round 8: *sc in the next 4 sts, dc2tog.* Repeat ** (= 25 sts).
Round 9: sc 25.
Round 10: *sc in the next 3 sts, dc2tog.* Repeat ** (= 20 sts).
Round 11: *sc in the next 2 sts, dc2tog.* Repeat ** (= 15 sts).
Round 12: *sc, sc2tog.* Repeat ** (= 10 sts).
Push the head over the hanger through the small hole.
Stuff the head.
Round 13: *sc2tog.* Repeat ** (= 5 sts).
Pull the yarn through the last 5 sts, secure the head to the hanger and weave in the ends.

Snout
Start with a magic ring and sc 6 in the ring with colour 03.
Round 1: sc 2 in each st (= 12 sts).
Round 2: sc 12. Bind off.
Sew the snout onto the bear’s face. Insert a little bit of stuffing.
With a bit of black yarn, embroider a nose and 2 eyes.

Ear (2x)
When changing colour, don’t cut the yarn, but carry it along.
Start with a magic ring and sc 6 in the ring with colour 03.
Round 1: sc 2 in the first st, sc 2 in the next st, change colour (pink for a girl and blue for a boy), sc 2 in the next st, sc 2 in the next st, change colour (colour 03), sc 2 in the next st, sc 2 in the last st (= 12 sts).
Round 2: *sc 1, sc 2 in the next st*. Repeat ** 1x, change colour. Repeat ** 2x, change colour. Repeat ** 2x (= 18 sts).
Round 3: sc 6, change colour, sc 6, change colour, sc 6 (sc 18). Bind off.
Fold the ear over and close the seams.
Attach the ears to the head.

Finally, give the bear a little bow tie.
