But what kind of project should you choose... A scarf? A pair of mittens? A hat maybe? No, lets crochet a Snowman! So pretty as a wintery decoration or just to give away as a present.

Crochet a Snowman - Free Pattern:

Ch. = chain
Sc. = single crochet
Dc. = double crochet
Head:
Use crochet hook no. 3.
Sc. 6 in a magic loop.
Row 1: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 st.)
Row 2: Sc. 1, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (18 st.)
Row 3: Sc. 2, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (24 st.)
Row 4: Sc. 3, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (30 st.)
Row 5: Sc. 4, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (36 st.)
Row 6: Sc. 5, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (42 st.)
Row 7: Sc. 6, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (48 st.)
Row 8: Sc. 7, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (54 st.)
Rows 9 - 20: Sc. 54.
Row 21: Sc. 7, cluster sc. each 8th and 9th st. together, repeat (48 st.)
Row 22: Sc. 6, cluster sc. each 7th and 8th st. together, repeat (42 st.)
Row 23: Sc. 5, cluster sc. each 6th and 7th st. together, repeat (36 st.)
Row 24: Sc. 4, cluster sc. each 5th and 6th st. together, repeat (30 st.)
Row 25: Sc. 3, cluster sc. each 4th and 5th st. together, repeat (24 st.)
Stuff the head.
Row 26: Sc. 2, cluster sc. each 3rd and 4th st. together, repeat (18 st.)
Row 27: Sc. 1, cluster sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. together, repeat (12 st.)
Row 28: Cluster sc. 2 st. together (6 st.)
Pull last st. together by pulling the yarn through.
Nose:
Use crochet hook no. 3.
Sc. 6 in a magic loop.
Row 1: Sc. 1, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (9 st.)
Rows 2 - 7: sc. 9.
Row 8: Sc. 1, cluster sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. together, repeat (6 st.)
Rows 9 - 10: Sc. 6, stuff the nose.
Row 11: cluster sc. 2 st. together.
Pull last st. together by pulling the yarn through.
Hat:
Use crochet hook no. 4.
Sc. 6 in a magic loop
Row 1: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 st.)
Row 2: Sc. 1, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (18 st.)
Row 3: Sc. 2, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (24 st.)
Row 4: Sc. 3, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (30 st.)
Row 5: Sc. 4, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (36 st.)
Row 6: Sc. 36 in the back loops.
Row 7: Sc. 4 v., cluster sc. the 5th adn 6th st. together, repeat (30 st.)
Row 8: Sc. 3 v., cluster sc. the 4th and 5th st. together, repeat (24 st.)
Rows 9 - 11: Sc. 24.
Row 12: Sc. 3, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (30 st.)
Row 13: Sc. 1, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (45 st.)
Row 14: Sc. 2, sc. 2 in next st., repeat (60 st.)
Stuff the hat and attach it to the head.
Crochet a ribbon around the hat: Ch. 27 + 1, turn your work. Sc. 27. Cast off and attach the ribbon around the hat.
Attach the nose on the head and embroider the eyes and mouth.
Scarf:
Crochet in stripes, 1 colour is a row of dc.
Ch. 6 + 1, turn your work.
Start in the 3rd ch. from your hook, and dc. 6, ch. 1. Repeat this until you have 33 rows.
Tie a knot in the scarf and attach it under the head.
Crochet a chain and make a loop on the hat to be able to hang your snowman.
