Crocheted Cupid - Valetines day, a day full of hearts, love and treats, is coming up! Of course it's nice to spoil your Valentine with a present, and how cute is it to make it yourself? This crocheted cupid, with a little envelope for a secret message, is the perfect item! Continue reading for the free crochet pattern! 

The 14th of February is the perfect day to spoil your Valentine! Long love letters, a big bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolate; many women will love it. Of course it's good to give something back and therefore we've designed this cute crocheted cupid.

Stitches used:
Sl.st. = Slip stitch
Sc. = Single crochet
Ch. = Chain

Materials:
- Phildar coton 3 Rosee (1), Cerise (50), Soleil (45), Craie (49), Ciel (3)
- Crochet hook no. 2 mm
- Stitch ring markers
- Stuffing
- Leftover of Black to embroider the eyes

Crocheted Cupid - Free Crochet Pattern

Tip: To indicate the beginning of each row, it’s handy to use a stitch ring marker. Insert a marker in the 1st sc. of each round and take it up while you continue.

Because of its size this crocheted cupid is not suitable for children under the age of 3!

Body/Head

Start with the bottom of the body.

Round 1: With colour Craie sc. 6 in a magic ring or start the following way; Ch. 2, sc. 6 in the 1st ch., sl.st 1 in the 1st sc. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 2 in each 3rd st. (24 sts.)
Round 5: Sc. 24 (24 sts.)
Round 6: Sc. 2 in each 4th st. (30 sts.)
Round 7: Change to colour Rosee. Work this round in the back loops such that single loops are created on the outside of your work. Sc. 30 (30 sts.)
Round 8: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 4th and 5th st. tog. (24 sts.)
Round 9: Sc. 24 (24 sts.)
Round 10: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 3rd and 4th st. tog. (18 sts.)
Round 11 & 12: Sc. 18 (18 sts.)
Round 13: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. tog. (12 sts.)
Round 14 - 16: Sc. 12 each round (12 sts.)

Stuff the body firmly.

Round 17: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2 sts. tog. (6 sts.)
Round 18: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 19: Sc. 12 (12 sts.)
Round 20: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 21: Sc. 2 in each 6th st. (21 sts.)
Rounds 22 - 25: Sc. 21 each round (21 sts.)
Round 26: Decrease 3 sts. Sc. each 6th and 7th st. tog. (18 sts.)
Round 27: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. tog. (12 sts.)

Stuff the head firmly.

Round 28: Decrease 6 sts. Sc. each 2 sts. tog. (6 sts.)
Cast off and pull the end yarn through the last 6 sts. Pull tight and weave in the ends.

Cast on a new yarn of colour Craie in the outside loops of round 7. Insert your hook from bottom to top.

Round 1: Sc. 30 (30 sts.)
Round 2: Sl.st. 30 (30 sts.)

Hairs

Round 1: With colour Soleil sc. 6 in a magic ring or start the following way; Ch. 2, sc. 6 in the 1st ch., sl.st 1 in the 1st sc. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Work these rounds in the back loops such that single loops are created on the outside of your work. Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 2 in each 6th st. (21 sts.)
Round 5: Sc. 2 in each 7th st. (24 sts.)
Rounds 6 & 7: Sc. 24 each round (24 sts.) Cast off and leave a long end yarn around your work to attach the hairs late on.

Cast on a new yarn in the first outside loop of round 2. Insert from bottom to top. Work *Sl.st. 1, ch. 5, sl.st. 1 in the first ch., sl.st. 1 in the second st. * Repeat from *-* until round 7. Weave in the ends. Attach the hairs on top of thee had with a few small stitches in the single loops of round 7.

Wings

Round 1: With colour Ciel sc. 6 in a magic ring or start the following way; Ch. 2, sc. 6 in the 1st ch., sl.st 1 in the 1st sc. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3: Sc. 2 in each 2nd st. (18 sts.)
Round 4: Sc. 2 in each 3rd st. (24 sts.)

Fold your crocheted round double and close this half circle with sc. 12 around it. Ch. 1, turn your work. *Sc. 1, hdc. 1, sc. 1 in the first st., sl.st. 1 in the 2nd st.* Repeat from *to* until the end of the round.

Attach the wings on the back with a few small stitches. Accentuate the middle by making an extra stitch between the middle arches.

Little Envelope

With colour Cerise ch. 9.

Row 1: Sc. in the 1st ch., sc. 6, sc. 4 in the last ch. Continue on the other side of the chain. Sc. 6 and end with sc. 2 in the last ch. (20 sts.)
Rows 2 - 7: Sc. 20 each round (20 sts.)
Row 8: Sc. 12, Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 9: Sc. 10, Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 10: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. (8 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 11: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. (6 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 12: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. (4 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 13: Sc. the first and last 2 sts. tog. amen (2 sts.) Tch. 1, turn your work.
Row 14: Sc. the last 2 sts. tog (1 st.) Ch. 1, sc. around the point towards row 8. Work sl.st. around the edges of the envelope until you are at the other side of the point. Work sc. towards the top of the point. End with ch. 1, sl.st. 1 in the point itself. Cast off and weave in het ends.

Attach the envelope with a few small stitches on the belly of the angels. Make sure the bottom of the envelope is parallel to the body.

Legs

With colour Rosee ch. 7.

Round 1: Sc. 2 in the first ch., sc. 4, sc. 4 in the last ch. Continue on the other side of the chain. Sc. 4 and end with sc. 2 in the last ch. (16 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 16 (16 sts.)
Round 3: Decrease 3 sts. Sc. the 7th and 8th, 9th and 10th and the 11th and 12th st. tog. (13 sts.)
Round 4: Decrease 3 sts. Sc. the 5th and 6th, 7th and 8th and the 9th and 10th st. tog. (10 sts.)
Round 5 - 11: Sc. 10 each round (10 sts.)

Stuff the leg firmly.

Work another leg the same way. Attach the legs on the pants. Use the envelope for spreading the legs. Attach the bottom of the envelope on the inside of the legs.

Arms

Round 1: With Rosee sc. 6 in a magic ring or start the following way; Ch. 2, sc. 6 in the 1st ch., sl.st 1 in the 1st sc. (6 sts.)
Round 2: Sc. 2 in each st. (12 sts.)
Round 3 - 4: Sc. 12 in each round (12 sts.)
Round 5: Decrease 3 sts. Sc. each 3rd and 4th st. tog. (9 sts.)
Round 6 - 8: Sc. 9 in each round (9 sts.)
Round 9: Decrease 3 sts. Sc. each 2nd and 3rd st. tog. (6 sts.)

Stuff the arm firmly.

Round 10: Fold the ends flat and close it with sl.st.

Work another arm the same way. Attach the arms on the sides of the body with a few small stitches. Attach the hands at the top of the envelope.

Aureole

With colour Ciel ch. 20. Close to a ring by sl.st. 1 in the first ch. Crochet around the foundation chain. Sc. 30. Cast off and attach the aureole with a few small stiches on the head.

Embroider with the leftover of Black two eyes on the face. Embroider with Rosee a small nose and with Cerise a little mouth on the face.
