Tunisian Entrelac Crochet - Tunisian crochet is totally trendy nowadays, and offers a variety of projects and patterns. Annemarie mastered this special crochet technique and made a colourful pillow using Tunisian entrelac crochet. Continue reading for the free pattern and instructions!
A pillow for your couch, chair or bed; they are always convenient and decorative. Colours and styles can easily be mixed, as well as different techniques and yarns. Annemarie got going with the Tunisian entrelac crochet technique and uses the colourful Yarn and Colors Fabulous. This yarn is a mix of acrylic and cotton and therefore strong and easy to use. With the wide colour range of 50 different shades, it's easy to make beautiful colour combinations! Pick your favourite colours and get going!
Materials:
- 2 balls Yarn and Colors Fabulous colours 22, 42, 40, 16
- 3 balls Yarn and Colors Fabulous colour 15
- Crochet hook no. 6mm
- Pillow 50x50 cm
For the green pillow we've used Yarn and Colors Fabulous colours 86, 87, 84 and 94. The bottom is made with byClaire Fabrics Dot 547.

Tunisian Entrelac Crochet - Free Pattern Pillow
Ch. 69 with colour
Start this row with half a square (triangle).
Insert your hook in de second ch. from your hook. Yarn over and draw a loop, you've got 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through both loops on your hook.
Insert your hook behind the first vertical bar (the one where your yarn does not come from), yarn over and draw a loop behind the vertical bar. Insert your hook in the next ch. of your foundation chain, yarn over and draw a loop. You've got 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook. You've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.
Insert your hook behind the first vertical bar. Yarn over and draw a loop behind the vertical bar. Insert again behind the same vertical bar, yarn over and draw a loop. Insert your hook in the next ch. of the foundation chain. Yarn over and draw through. You've got 4 loops on your hook. *Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook*. Repeat from *to* until you've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.
You're going to work a forward pass again.
Insert your hook behind the first vertical bar. Yarn over and draw through. Insert your hook behind the next vertical bar and draw a loop. Insert your hook behind the next vertical bar, yarn over and draw a loop. Insert your hook in the next ch. of your foundation. Yarn over and draw a loop. You've got 5 loops on your hook.
*Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook*. Repeat from *to* until you've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.
Repeat the rows above until you have 7 loops on your hook. The triangle will be 5 vertical bars high.
To make the first full square you need to make loose sl.st. on the triangle downwards to the foundation ch. Don't do this too tight because for the next row you need to be able to insert without too much effort.
*Insert your hook behind the vertical bar, yarn over and draw through the loop on your hook*. Repeat this until you've arrived at the first new ch. of your foundation chain.
Work the first complete square.
Insert your hook in de next ch., yarn over and draw a loop. Repeat this until you've got 7 loops on your hook.
**Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook*. Repeat from **to* until you've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.
You've made 5 vertical bars. Continue with a forward pass by drawing loop behind each vertical bar until you gave 6 loops on your hook. Insert your hook in the next ch., yarn over and draw through such that you get 7 loops on your hook.
*Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook*. Repeat from *to* until you've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.**
Repeat from **to** until your square is 5 vertical bars high. Work sl.st. back on the square to get through your foundation ch. again to start a new square.
Work 5 complete squares.
To finish work a triangle again. Repeat the rows above until you've got 7 loops on your hook.
*Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook*. Repeat from *to* until you've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.
***Continue with a forward pass, but slip the last vertical bar such that you have 6 loops on your hook. *Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on your hook*. Repeat from *to* until you've got 1 loop remaining on your hook.***
Repeat from ***to*** until you have 2 loops on your hook. Close with sl.st.
Make another patch the same way.
Finishing
Weave in loose ends.
With colour Mustard make a round of sc. around the patches. Work 1 sc. in each st., and 3 sc. in the corners.
Put the patches with the wrong sides on top of each other and join them using a round of sc. Sc. 3 in each corner. Cast off and weave in the loose ends.
