Remember when you were little, lying in bed, cuddling your favorite toy? It was just like having your best friend beside you, allowing you to drift off peacefully and dream the night away. And whenever you were sad, mad, or thought mom or dad were being mean, this same soft playmate would comfort you and cajole you into better spirits with games and adventures. Your cuddly buddy sure was a true friend! To gift just such a friendship to your (grand)children, we’ve designed the Yarnplaza XL Doll Family for you to crochet; a jolly cuddly doll family that would make a fine addition to any home with little ‘uns under foot! So, are you a (grand)mother or (grand)father who loves to crochet? Then read on!
Over the course of the coming year, we’re going to bring you a delightful family of 6 cheerful characters. Each family member measures 58 cm, from the top of their heads to the bottom of their feet and comes with a high cuddle factor. They will all be available in our webshop as digital patterns and complete crochet kits. The dolls will be released one by one, and we’ll share the good news of their release here on the blog as well as on Yarnplaza’s Instagram account and Facebook page.
General requirements
To crochet the dolls, you will need the following:
- Crochet hooks 3 mm and 3.5 mm
- Scissors
- Darning needle

Ballerina Sofie
We kick off with the ever-graceful Ballerina Sofie. Sofie has blond hair, tied up with a lovely hairband, and is wearing a beautiful purple tutu. Dancing is her passion, but she’s always up for playing games with her friends. Her favorite color is pink, and she loves eating apple pie, especially with whipped cream! Sheep Sara
We surprised Ballerina Sofie with her very own woolly pet: Sara the Sheep! Sara is the happiest sheep in the meadow and wears a fun striped sweater that’s the exact same color as the dandelions she so loves. Do you also have a precious, little lamb frolicking about at home? Then treat them to a new playmate! Sara is available as a complete crochet kit or as a separate crochet pattern. Enjoy crocheting, playing, and cuddly with her!
