Baby Hat - Free Crochet Pattern
Materials:
Stitches used:
Ch = chain stitch
Sl st = slip stitch
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
BP dc = back-post double crochet
FP dc = front-post double crochet
How the back- and front-post dc work: You can make these stitches by inserting the hook next to the stitch in the previous row. You do not insert the hook right under the v, but in between the posts of the stitches. This stitch is easiest when you have previously crocheted a row of dc or trc. You either insert from the back to the front, around the post and to the back again (BP dc) or from the front to the back, around the post and to the front again (FP dc).
Method
Start with a magic ring and work 10 hdc. Join with a sl st.
Round 1: 2 hdc in every st (20 sts).
Round 2: *2 hdc in st, hdc in next st, repeat from * (30 sts).
Round 3: *2 hdc in st, hdc in next 2 sts, repeat from * (40 sts).
Round 4: *2 hdc in st, hdc in next 3 sts, repeat from * (50 sts).
Rounds 5-13: hdc in every st.
Round 14: ch 2, *BP dc, FP dc, repeat from *. Join with a sl st.
Rounds 15-17: ch 2, *BP dc, FP dc, repeat from *. Join with a sl st.
