Getting Started with Embroidery for Christmas
There are so many beautiful things you can embroider for Christmas, but of course it’s helpful to know exactly how to go about it if you’re still a beginner. There are various resources available for this, but the easiest way is to learn the art of embroidery through video tutorials. Check out our page listing all the tutorials here. You’ll learn the cross stitch, satin stitch, Lazy Daisy stitch, and much more! Prefer reading over watching? Then take a look at our blog, where we explain embroidery for beginners in great detail: from handy embroidery stitches to high-quality Embroidery Thread.
You’ll also need materials and tools to create a beautiful piece of needlework. A piece of fabric, of course, but also embroidery needles, embroidery thread, and an embroidery hoop. The type of fabric you’ll need for your Christmas embroidery project depends on the technique you want to use. For the cross-stitch technique, use a piece of Aida fabric; for embroidery, you’ll usually use 100% Cotton. You can find a handy overview of everything you need for Christmas embroidery here.

Let's Get Started: Christmas Embroidery Patterns
To embroider something beautiful for Christmas, it’s nice to follow an embroidery pattern. You can find lots of different embroidery patterns here—many of them are even free to download! On our website, you can filter by price so that the free patterns always appear first. There are simple embroidery patterns for beginners, as well as challenging patterns for the slightly more advanced crafters. You’ll find patterns featuring the four seasons, cute bouquets of flowers, twigs with fruit, and also lots and lots of adorable little animals like an alpaca or a hedgehog.
When you're logged in to your Yarnplaza account, all downloadable patterns are easy to find under "My Digital Items." You have unlimited access to the patterns you've purchased, and you can download them again at any time!
