Crocheting the Bobble Stitch on Knitted Pieces - Those cute little bobbles on your knitted pieces create a playful and beautiful effect. The bobble stitch—also known as the noppensteek or popcorn stitch—can be made using both crochet and knitting. But did you know you can also crochet a bobble stitch onto a knitted piece? It’s very easy but makes a big impact! We’re happy to explain how it works with a clear pattern and video—will you join us in crocheting and knitting?
This month’s stitch is the bobble stitch on knitted fabric. We’ve already explained how to crochet a bobble stitch (view the pattern diagram here) and how to knit a bobble stitch (watch the video here). But this month, we’re combining these two techniques! A crocheted bobble is much quicker to make than a knitted one. So if you love to knit and want to easily incorporate the bobble stitch, this technique is perfect for you. We’re happy to show you how to crochet a bobble stitch onto knitted fabric with a clear pattern and video. Want to join us?

You make the bobbles on the right-side row, that is, on the right side of the work.
Knit 3 stitches. In the next stitch, we'll crochet a bobble:
Slip the next stitch off the Knitting Needle and place it on your Crochet Hook.
You'll now use the yarn you're knitting with to crochet.
*Pull the yarn through the stitch on your Crochet Hook, 2 chain stitches, 2 double crochets worked together (work these into the original stitch of your knitting), 1 chain stitch.
Turn your crochet hook and slip the stitch back onto the Knitting Needle.*
** Knit 4 stitches.
In the next stitch, we'll crochet another bobble. Repeat from * to *. **
Repeat ** to ** two more times and finish with 3 knit stitches.
