It's not that complicated: the wrap stitch

Making your own home decorations is very popular. Crocheted blankets, knitted cushions, or crocheted baskets—these are ideal projects for a beginner knitter. We discovered the wrap stitch, which adds just that little extra something to your work. Read on for an explanation of the stitch.

Want to make a splash this summer? Try knitting the wrap stitch with a 3D effect! The bobble-like texture creates an optical illusion. The Lana Grossa Lace Lux yarn (from our collection) enhances this effect thanks to its sheen. It gives the Cushion a chic look. This Cushion is beautiful for your home or—thanks to its natural colors—as an accent for your outdoor furniture.

To make the wrap stitch, first knit a piece using the textured pattern. Then embroider using the wrap stitch. Good luck!

Structural Pattern
Follow the Knitting Pattern shown in the image below.
The numbers on the far right indicate the right-side rows. On the wrong-side rows, knit all stitches. Across the width, start the row with the stitches before the first arrow; the pattern section consists of 6 stitches. Repeat between the arrows, ending with the stitches after the second arrow. In the vertical direction, work rows 1–10 once, then repeat rows 3–10 continuously.

The cushion in the photo was knitted with Lana Grossa Biolino color 1 (from the collection).

Wrap Stitch

1 wrap stitch over every 1st st. Embroider the texture pattern.
When knitting with the Embroidery Needle and thread, insert the needle to the left of the knit stitch from back to front, pull the thread through, and leave a tail hanging at the back. Hold the end of the thread. Now insert the needle to the right of the knit stitch and bring it out again at the same spot, but do not pull the thread through the stitch or tighten it; instead, use your left hand to wrap the thread around the tip of the needle 12 times, just as you did before. Then hold the wraps in place and carefully pull the needle and thread through. Now reinsert the needle at the entry point and pull the thread tight. The wraps will form a caterpillar-like pattern around the thread. Carefully tuck the ends of the thread into the back; if necessary, tie a button in them beforehand.

Good luck!
