Knit 1 row, then purl the next row.
Make another piece just like this one for the back.
Stockinette Stitch Band
Cast on 9 stitches for the stockinette stitch band using size 6 needles. Knit 175 rows in stockinette stitch. Depending on your knitting tension, the band may end up slightly too long or too short. Therefore, leave a slightly longer tail on the work so you can adjust the length while weaving in the ends.
For the mesh, I use a thinner cotton thread, preferably in the same color. Sew the knit fabric to one piece using a mattress stitch, and then to the other piece.
Finishing
Using Yarn and Colors Fabulous, crochet 2 rows of single crochet along the top of the Bag to reinforce the handles. Crochet 1 row of single crochet along the inside of both handles.
Use leftover colored yarn to make 5 pom-poms and trim them to the desired size. Attach the pom-poms to the bottom of the handle on the front of the bag. Make fringes in different colors and attach them below the pom-poms for an extra cheerful look!
