Tools & Supplies to Knit a Heart

- 1 ball of Yarn and Colors Epic, color 031 Cardinal. The original heart was knitted with Phildar Phil Coton 4. Unfortunately, the colors of this yarn are no longer available in our selection.
- 1 ball of Yarn and Colors Epic, color 043 Pearl

Stitches Used

Barley Seed Stitch:
1st row: * 1 knit stitch, 1 purl stitch *, repeat from * to *, and end with 1 knit stitch
2nd and 4th rows: knit the stitches as they appear.
3rd row: * 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch *, repeat from * to *, and end with 1 purl stitch.
Repeat these 4 rows throughout. Every 2 rows, the stitches are worked in the opposite direction.

Heart Knit Pattern

Part 1
Cast on 5 sts using size 4.5 knitting needles, color Ecarlate, working in seed stitch, and follow the chart for increases and decreases. Bind off when the piece measures 11 cm (36 rows).

Finishing
Sew the various seams closed. Assemble the two pieces (from point A to point B, then from point C to point D). Sew the edge seam closed, leaving an opening for stuffing, then close it. Using thread 043 Pearl, make a cord consisting of 2 strands of 4 threads each (finished length 50 cm), then single crochet it in place at the center of the heart.
