Structure of the Sweater
This baby sweater consists of 4 separate pieces: a back panel, a front panel, and 2 sleeves. You knit these individually and then sew them together at the end.
Stitches used:
Stockinette stitch: 1 row purl, 1 row knit
Ribbing: 1 purl stitch, 1 knit stitch.
Dot Pattern: The pattern knitted into the fabric consists of a multiple of 4 + 2 edge stitches. Knit the dot pattern as follows:
2nd and all even lines: all s. av.
Row 1: *3 knit stitches, 1 purl stitch*
Row 2: purl all stitches
Row 3: knit all stitches
Row 4: purl all stitches
Row 5: K1, *P1, 3 stitches*, P1, 3 stitches
Row 6: purl all stitches
Row 7: knit all stitches
Row 8: purl all stitches
Back
Panel: Use 3 mm Knitting Needles.
Cast on A) 60 stitches, B) 64 stitches, C) 68 stitches, D) 72 stitches, E) 76 stitches, and knit 10 rows of ribbing. Now switch to 3.5 mm Knitting Needles.

Left side: Change to 3 mm needles and knit 8 more rows of ribbing on the left side.
Bind off all stitches loosely.

Front
Knit the back piece until it measures A) 21 cm, B) 24 cm, C) 27 cm, D) 30 cm, E) 33 cm.
Bind off the center section: A) 6 stitches, B) 6 stitches, C) 8 stitches, D) 8 stitches, E) 10 stitches, and knit each section separately.
On both sides of the neck, bind off 1x3 stitches, 2x2 stitches, and 1x1 stitch every other row. When the total height reaches A) 24 cm, B) 27 cm, C) 30 cm, D) 33 cm, or E) 36 cm, bind off the remaining A) 19 stitches, B) 21 stitches, C) 22 stitches, D) 24 stitches, or E) 25 stitches on the left side.
Right side: Use 3 mm needles. Knit 8 more rows in ribbing, and create 2 buttonholes in this row as follows: yarn over, followed by knitting 2 stitches together.
Sleeves
: Use 3mm needles.
Cast on A) 34 stitches, B) 36 stitches, C) 40 stitches, D) 42 stitches, E) 44 stitches.
Rows 1–9: Work in ribbing.
Row 10: Increase 6 stitches evenly across the row.
Switch to 3.5 mm needles.
Continue knitting with 3.5 mm needles in stockinette stitch, starting with the first row of the polka-dot pattern.
Increase on both sides of every 4the nld:

Tip: When increasing, keep the dot pattern in mind; it continues on the increased stitches as well.
Finishing
: Sew all the pieces together and crochet a row of single crochets along the neckline. Sew on the buttons.
