Knit a scarf: spruce up your scarf with a mustache!

Schnurrbart, moustache, masharubu, viikset, or simply “mustache.” What started out as nothing more than facial hair between the nose and upper lip has become an indispensable part of the fashion scene. You see mustaches everywhere: as necklaces, as rings, on sunglasses, and on T-shirts and sweaters. So why not on a nice, warm scarf?

Yarnplaza.com shows you that knitting a cowl and jazzing it up with a mustache isn’t that hard at all. You knit the cowl in your favorite color and then crochet the mustache onto it. After a day of knitting, you’ll have a fashionable “mustache cowl” for the winter months!

What do you need?

Materials: Merino Super Big Mix—1 ball of Geranium and 1 ball of Grey—Circular Knitting Needle size 8, 40 cm long, and a Wool Needle/Stitch Holder.

Tip: Knit a cowl on a Circular Knitting Needle, and you'll end up with a snug-fitting cowl—it looks really nice!

Stitches used:
straight stitch, stockinette stitch, ribbing.

Knitting Pattern:

1/1 ribbing and stockinette stitch (if you're not using Circular Knitting Needles, knit in stockinette stitch)

Knitting the collar:

Start with the color Geranium. Cast on 68 stitches and join to form a circle. Mark this join with a piece of colored thread.
3 rows = 1.5 cm knitted in 1/1 ribbing, then continue knitting in stockinette stitch.
After 13.5 cm from the start = 19 rows knit, knit 3 more rows = 1.5 cm in ribbing, then bind off.

The mustache mesh (Grey):

Mark the center front and embroider the mustache pattern in Grey according to the provided chart. One square on the chart corresponds to one stitch. The bold line indicates the center of the mustache. Position the mustache so that it is centered vertically on the collar.
