Our popular “Design & Win” contest is back with a regular format! Every month, you have a chance to be in the Yarnplaza spotlight with your design. Curious about how you can enter and what themes we’ve chosen? Read on to find out!
How does the "Design & Win" concept work?
Following the success of our previous design contests, such as the penguin contest and the tiger contest, we’re back with a fantastic, established contest format: “Design & Win.” Every month, your unique design gives you a chance to win awesome prizes and an exclusive spot among all Yarnplaza designs on our site. Of course, we’ll put you, the designer, in the spotlight—on our social media channels, in our Newsletters, and in our Inspiration Center.
Each month features a new theme. You can choose which craft technique you’d like to use for your design: knitting, crocheting, embroidery, punch needle, weaving, macramé, or kumihimo. You’re also welcome to combine techniques if you’d like. Nothing is too crazy, so let your creativity run wild! For your design, you’ll use yarns and Tools & Supplies available in Yarnplaza’s selection.

Design & Win: Monthly Themes
The theme for the month of July was designing a mandala. These circular figures come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. The mandala is a magical shape with no beginning or end, drawing your attention naturally toward the center. In addition to drawing or coloring mandalas, you can of course also crochet, knit, use a punch needle, embroider, make macramé, or engage in weaving. The winner for July has been announced! This month was all about scarves! You can never have too many scarves, and the possibilities are endless. The winner for September has now been announced! Her design will soon be available as a free downloadable pattern on our patterns page.
October is Home Decor Month, so what could be better than making your own trendy Cushion? It’s the perfect way to brighten up a boring couch, chair, or bed.
How can I enter the “Design & Win” contest, and what do I need to do?
- You will design your own unique pattern based on the theme of the month in question. To do this, you will use yarns and Tools & Supplies available in the Yarnplaza product line.
- Take some atmospheric photos of your design so it really stands out.
- You’ll create your pattern using our Yarnplaza template, which you can download here. Be sure to include all the information about your pattern—such as the materials used, the stitches used, gauge swatches, and any additional details—in a complete and clear manner.
- Please send the photos and the pattern for your design by the last day of the month in question to klantenservice@wolplein.nl, and be sure to include “Design & Win” and the relevant theme.
PLEASE NOTE: If you win, Yarnplaza will have the exclusive right to use the pattern, and you will no longer be able to share it with others.
What can you win?
- You'll win a €50 digital Yarnplaza gift card!
- Your design will be included in the Yarnplaza collection as a pattern or kit, giving it a special spot in our online store. Of course, your name as the designer will be credited throughout.
- Your designs and social media accounts (if you have any) will be promoted for free through Yarnplaza’s newsletters and social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube (+170,000 social media followers).
- Your design will be featured prominently on the Inspiration Board on the Yarnplaza homepage.
- Your design can be displayed at the Yarnplaza Inspiration Center for promotional purposes (if you'd like).
All in all, this is a fantastic opportunity to put yourself in the spotlight as a designer!

On the 3rd of every month, we publish the submitted designs, and the public has 5 days to vote for their favorite. The design with the most votes wins!
