Free Organico Cushion Pattern

Pattern order:
1. Stockinette stitch in the round: knit all stitches.
2. Ribbing pattern: knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
3. Stockinette stitch with a garter stitch pattern and jacquard pattern using only Organico; see the pattern diagram below. This shows 1/4 of the top of the Cushion, with decreases on either side. Knit this in the round 4 times. The numbers on the far right indicate all the rows. The arrows outline the 1/4 section along the outer edge. The numbers and symbols within the Knitting Pattern represent the colors; the numbers indicate the color codes. See the material information and key. The color sections are separated by horizontal lines. For the jacquard pattern on rows 1722 and 39–44, when changing colors, always loosely carry the unused yarn along the back of the work, ensuring the yarns remain evenly tensioned. Knit rows 1–76 once.

Gauge: 10 x 10 cm = 17 sts and 23 rows in stockinette stitch using a 4.5 mm needle and Organico yarn.

Front
The cushion is knitted in the round from the outside in. The arrows in the pattern chart indicate the direction of knitting. Cast on 444 stitches using the long Circular Knitting Needle, size 4.5 mm, and Organico in dark teal. Join the work in the round and continue to knit in the pattern sequence as described. After the first row, place a marker every 111 sts for reference (the first quarter of the top begins with 111 sts). Starting on the 2nd row, begin to decrease in each ¼ section as indicated on both sides. When the number of stitches decreases, continue with the shorter circular needle, and at the end, switch to double-pointed needles. Distribute the stitches evenly across 4 needles. After 32.5 cm—76 rows from the cast-on—the center of the top is reached. There are still 3 stitches remaining on each needle = 12 stitches total. Pull these tight with the end of the yarn. Tuck the end of the yarn securely into the back.

Back Cover
Knit using the same pattern as the front, but using black Organico yarn, and knit in stockinette stitch between the decreases. Decrease in the same way as on the front of the Cushion. After 32.5 cm = 76 rows, bind off the work just as you did for the front.

Finishing
Stretch the pieces into a square, dampen them, and let them dry. Place the front and back pieces with their wrong sides together. Crochet the pieces together using a 4 mm Crochet Hook and black Organico yarn by working single crochet stitches along 3 sides; work a single crochet stitch around only the 4th edge on the front. Crochet 1 round of crab stitch (= single crochet from left to right) around the cushion. Insert the inner cushion or stuff the cushion firmly. Sew the remaining open seam closed with overcast stitches.

Make 4 large Alcanto tassels by wrapping the thread around 4 fingers of your left hand about 40 times for each tassel. Carefully remove the loops from your fingers and tie them securely on one end with a new piece of Alcanto thread. Wrap this thread around the tassel a few times, starting about 3.5 cm from the kink. Single crochet the thread securely and trim it to the same length as the tassel. Cut through the loops on the other side and trim the tassels straight to a length of 9 cm. Sew a tassel onto each corner of the cushion.
