Once again this year, we’ve been able to inspire you with the best projects for crocheting, knitting, embroidery, tatting, weaving, macramé, and Kumihimo (for a handy overview of everything you need for a specific technique, just click on the word!). All these different techniques were once again featured with the best kits, free patterns, and more—and of course, we kept you up to date via our blog, social media, and Newsletters. From the best projects for the different seasons and holidays to fantastic highlights like De BreiSTER, our Yarnplaza Summer Kit, and, of course, the charity campaign we ran for Stichting het Vergeten Kind. There was also plenty to see and experience in the inspiration center, where the phrase “From inspiration to creation” truly comes to life. We’re looking back on all the fun and inspiring events from this year, from new products to the coolest collaborations!
The Year of Innovation and Renewal
Among other things, we expanded our Dream Collection with fantastic kits like the Dream Blanket 6.0, which you can either crochet or knit. This cheerful blanket is available in 10 different colors and features a variety of fun patterns and textures. Later in the year, we also introduced the Dream Bag, a cheerful addition to the rest of the Dream Collection—and it can even double as a storage bag for your Dream Blanket! Just in time for the holidays, we added one more item to the Dream Collection: the Christmas Dream Blanket!
We also significantly expanded our own Pink Label brand with the most beautiful yarns and kits. We introduced the Felt-it line: a sustainable yarn that’s perfect for making kidswear. Why? Because this yarn is wrinkle-free and doesn’t get damaged easily. So it’s perfect for making clothes for little adventurers. In addition to Felt-it, we also introduced the Create-it yarn: This ball is made of polyester and is wonderfully soft, making it perfect for cuddly toys or a cozy, warm blanket. Both yarns are available in a whole range of beautiful colors, so you can really get creative with them! Not sure what you want to make with them yet? There are also plenty of kits that feature Felt-it and Create-it yarn, such as scarves, cushions, cardigans, and more!
We also launched the best online community for anyone who loves crafts: the Yarnplaza Academy! Here, our community shares the best craft projects, and people can ask for Tips and Tricks for their work in progress. 3,942 people have already joined our creative community, and of course, you’re more than welcome to join for FREE!

The Year of Collaborations
We had an incredibly fun collaboration with Ariadne at Home Studio, where you can make the most beautiful home accessories yourself! The collaboration includes a number of kits that come with all the tools & supplies you need, but that’s not all: There’s also an exclusive course platform from Yarnplaza Academy with video instructions for some of the kits. Perfect if you’re a beginner! Among other things, you can knit a beautiful ribbed pillow or crochet a cheerful bobble pillow.
You can also try your hand at the new techniques of punch needle and weaving: The Flower Scene Punch Needle Kit is perfect for brightening up any room, and the wall hanging you assemble yourself with the Ariadne at Home Studio Wall Hanging Weaving Kit really brightens up the space! For more inspiration, check out the “Oasis on the Wall” Punch Kit, the “Handy Baskets” Crochet Kit, the “Sunshine in Your Home” Embroidery Kit, and the “Shopping Bag” Crochet Kit.
As the final highlight of our collaboration with Ariadne at Home Studio: The Dreamy Blanket Crochet Kit! This blanket is large, so you can snuggle up under it comfortably while watching a movie. You can also use the blanket as a bedspread at the foot of your bed.
And, of course, we’ve also had some wonderful collaborations with designers; we’ll list them below:
- Yarnplaza & Lotte: The winner of Haakster 2021 has designed two beautiful Crochet Kits that you can use to get started yourself! Both Kits are based on the four seasons; you can choose between four incredibly cute little animals or four cheerful little figures.
- Yarnplaza & Essiebirdies: Essiebirdies is a Dutch blogger who has designed a number of adorable stuffed animals, and kits for them are available on Yarnplaza. For example, there are some incredibly cute bunnies for Easter; you can find more details about the bunnies on our blog. Essiebirdies has also designed a Santa Claus and a Mrs. Claus for the holidays. Not only can you find adorable stuffed animals from Essiebirdies, but there’s also a beautiful, colorful Scarf!
- Yarnplaza & Chloë: Chloë designed something for us that suits her perfectly: a Granny Square cardigan in all kinds of cheerful color combinations. The black or cream-colored base makes the cheerful colors of the Granny Squares really pop. Check out our blog, where Chloë talks in detail about her cute cardigan, or shop the Granny Cardigan à la Chloë Crochet Kit right away!
- Yarnplaza and Haakstudio Lien: Carolien from Haakstudio Lien has designed a lovely, Cosy shawl in collaboration with us, especially for those cooler summer evenings. On our blog, you can read an interview with Carolien and be sure to check out the Crochet Kit for the Summer Shawl!
- Yarnplaza & Jantine Flach: As part of this collaboration, Jantine Flach, a former participant in Haakster, set to work designing a cheerful rug: the Skye Rug. On our blog, you’ll find an interview with Jantine about this unique rug. You can also make it yourself with our Skye Rug Crochet Kit!
- Yarnplaza & Ramona: Ramona took second place during the 2021 Haakster season. Ramona designed the Baby Blanket L.I.S. (L.I.S. stands for Lost in Space) for us. This baby blanket features plenty of mosaic crochet and has a vintage look. Would you like to make this beautiful baby blanket yourself? Then check out our Baby Blanket L.I.S. Crochet Kit!
- Yarnplaza & Bea Torfs: Last year, we partnered with Bea Torfs and launched a corresponding collection. This year, the collection has been expanded to include a Spencer and an asymmetrical scarf—and, of course, we’ve included Kits so you can make them yourself!
- Yarnplaza & Anneke: The Yarnplaza & Anneke blog went live last year, but new to the collection is the Create-it Bear and its matching Crochet Kit! Make this soft teddy bear yourself and give it as a gift to a little one—or just keep it for yourself.
- Yarnplaza & Maud Akkermans: Maud Akkermans’ designs are unique because her blankets have a mosaic-like feel. The Dutch Haakster loves colors, and that’s reflected in her designs for our collaboration. All of these unique blanket kits can be found on our website—will you give them a try?
The Year of Inspiration
Time for inspiration and creativity! The inspiration center is finally fully open again after a year of COVID-19. This massive wool store—spanning a whopping 1,200 square meters—is packed with items for all your craft projects. A Year of Awesome Events
Throughout this year, there have been a number of awesome events where you could score big discounts, chat with well-known crafters, and see lots of crafters being interviewed! We’re looking back on the Yarnplaza Happy Days and the Yarnplaza Spring Week:
The Yarnplaza Happy Days were six days during which you could enjoy all kinds of exclusive premieres and special offers on various top brands at the inspiration center. In addition to all the great deals, the authors of two craft books also stopped by; Christel Krukkert and Maartje Bos were both there to sign their new books and have a friendly chat!
During the Yarnplaza Spring Week, there were once again amazing discounts and lots of interviews, including one with owner Petra. Six crafters were also featured. The crafters specialize in crocheting, knitting, macramé, punch needle embroidery, embroidery, and weaving. The crafters talk at length about their hobby and share what they love to make in the spring—which colors they use and what kinds of projects they work on when the sun starts shining again.

The Year of the Countdown
December and Christmas go hand in hand with a few things: family, love, and togetherness—but also Advent! With this year’s Christmas CAL edition, we counted down to Christmas together with an Advent calendar that you assemble yourself and that will last for many years to come. The Christmas Advent CALender 2022 Crochet Kit contains all the materials you need to put this festive Advent calendar together. Starting December 1, a new Crochet Pattern was posted on our blog every day, so you could crochet one box for your calendar each day. By Christmas, it’s complete, and we’ve all finished a wonderful project together! Of course, you can still join in on the calendar even if the start date has already passed—the patterns will remain available on our blog so you can join in anytime. Order the kit here and have it ready for next year!

The Year of Best Wishes
We at Yarnplaza would also like to wish you all a spectacular New Year. May we all stay happy and healthy! And, of course, may we get to work on lots and lots of craft projects!
