Crochet or knit the cutest Amigurumi penguin!

What often wears a tuxedo and loves to eat fish? A penguin! Today is International Penguin Day, and that’s worth taking a moment to celebrate. Did you know that 11 of the 17 penguin species are endangered? That’s why this coming month will be all about penguins for us. How are we going to do that? By organizing an Amigurumi contest!

Competition

In this crochet and knitting contest, which runs from April 25 to May 23, 2021, we challenge you to get creative and design your own penguin pattern. You must create this pattern using only the yarns from the penguin Yarn Kit—a kit we’ve put together especially for this contest. This makes the design process even more challenging! ;)

The design must be completed and submitted by May 23 at the latest. Do you have to send in your contest entry? No, not at all! You can keep it for yourself. :) However, we would like you to email us a few photos of the design at info@yarnplaza.com.

Final

Thank you for all the entries! We’ve seen so many cute penguins. Awesome! From among all the entries, our jury has selected 15 designs that have made it to the finals and will be competing against each other in this final round. You’re the one who decides who the winner will be! You had until June 2 to vote for your favorite on this blog! Did you help your favorite design win the grand prize—a €75 gift card for a zoo visit? :)

And the winner is...

There were so many votes—thank you! Each of the 15 finalists showed that they can make a fantastic Amigurumi penguin using just three balls of yarn and a set of teethers. Still, there can only be one winner, and that winner is... Ebrine Hoevers (@kroeliez). Congratulations!
