Color transition, dégradé, gradient, ombré... there are many terms for colors that blend into one another. When it comes to knitting and Crochet Yarn, we call these dégradé yarns. The effect is always special and even a little mysterious.
It's a new fashion trend: color gradients in your clothes. There are lots of videos and photos popping up online of people dyeing their own clothes using the "dip-and-dye" technique. You dip your T-shirt in fabric dye and let the dye soak in on its own. This creates a color gradient.
This dyeing technique has been used for years with crochet and knitting yarns. As you knit, a unique color pattern naturally emerges. With gradient yarns, no two garments are alike, because the size of the knitted or crocheted piece determines the pattern. This allows you to keep experimenting and creating.
