Felting a basket

What do you do when you feel like getting creative? Make this cute felt basket! It looks great on the kitchen table with some fruit or just for storing magazines. A real eye-catcher in any living room!

The yarn used is Rico Creative Filz. It’s 100% wool, thick yet lightweight—ideal for felting. Choose your favorite color and get started. You’ll find the pattern for the basket and many more fun patterns for your home in the book *Rico - Let’s Crochet Again*.

Felting
There are several ways to felt wool. Anyone can do it this way! First, you crochet the basket, and then you wash it in the washing machine. And voilà—you have a felted basket. See the before-and-after photos below. The great thing about felting is that it makes the whole thing sturdier and gives it a beautiful felted look. Are you up for the challenge?

Set the washing machine to 60 degrees and run a normal cycle. Add some detergent and a few towels for best results. Good luck!

If you'd prefer to use a different type of wool, or if the color you're looking for isn't available in Rico Filz, take a look at the options below. Each of these balls is suitable for felting:
