Knitting Pattern: Coffee & Wool Stitch Scarf

After last week’s knitted counting pattern, we’re moving on to a new stitch. Actually, a whole bunch of stitches, because we’re adding a whole little field of roses.

Pattern 7: Pink Roses in a Field
Colors used:
The background is knitted using off-white color 1,
The leaves (=double loops) are “crocheted” with yellow-green (color 29), and the roses with hot pink (color 26).

1st and 3rd rows: K4, *K4, 1 twisted knit ( = insert the needle as for a knit stitch, but into the back loop instead of the front loop), K3**, repeat from * to ** 2 times, end with K3.
2nd and 4th rows: purl 3, *purl 3, purl 1 twisted (= insert the needle as for a purl stitch, but into the back loop instead of the front loop), purl 4**, repeat from * to ** 2 times, ending with purl 4.
5th row: 4 sts, *2 sts, 1 double loop to the right with yellow-green (= insert the Crochet Hook 4 rows down, between the twisted st on the left and the previous st, pick up 1 st and place a loop on the Crochet Hook, insert the Crochet Hook again in the same place and pick up another st, place a loop of yarn on the Crochet Hook and slip the 3 sts on the Crochet Hook off the Crochet Hook, place the resulting st on the right needle), 2 knit stitches, 1 twisted knit stitch, 2 knit stitches, 1 double loop to the left (= insert the Crochet Hook 4 rows below the twisted knit stitch that falls to the right on the right side and the next stitch, pick up 1 stitch, place a loop of yarn on the Crochet Hook, insert the Crochet Hook again in the same place and pick up 1 more stitch, place a loop of yarn on the Crochet Hook, and slip the 3 stitches on the Crochet Hook off the Crochet Hook, placing the resulting stitch on the right needle), 1 knit stitch**, repeat from * to ** 2 times, and finish with 3 knit stitches.
6th row: 3 sts knit, * 2 sts knit together, 2 sts knit, 1 sts knit twisted, 2 sts knit, 2 sts knit together, 1 sts knit**, repeat from * to ** 2 times, and end with 4 sts knit.
7th row: 4 sts knit, *1 twisted knit, 3 sts knit, 1 rose ( = insert the Crochet Hook into the stitch being knitted and pick up 1 st, hot pink; place a loop on the Crochet Hook, insert the Crochet Hook again into the same stitch and pick up another stitch, place a loop on the Crochet Hook, and crochet off the 3 stitches on the Crochet Hook; place the resulting stitch on the Crochet Hook and knit to the right), 3 knit stitches**.
Repeat from * to ** 2 times, ending with 1 twisted knit stitch, 2 knit stitches.
Rows 8 and 10: 2 sts purl, 1 st purl twisted, * 7 sts purl, 1 st purl twisted **, repeat from * to ** 2 times, and end with 4 sts purl.
9th row: 4 sts knit, * 1 twisted knit, 7 sts knit**, repeat from * to ** 2 times, 1 twisted knit, and 2 sts knit.
Row 11: K4, * K1 twisted, K2, 1 double yarn over to the left, K3, 1 double yarn over to the right, K2**; repeat from * to ** 2 times, K1 twisted, end with K2.
Row 12: K2, K1 twisted, * K1, K2 together, K3, K2 together, K1, K1 twisted **; repeat from * to ** 2 times, ending with K4.
Row 13: 4 sts knit, * 1 rose, 3 sts knit, 1 twisted knit, 3 sts knit**; repeat from * to ** 3 times, and end with 2 sts knit.
Repeat rows 2 through 7.

Knit 3 rows in stockinette stitch using off-white, color 1.
Repeat the rows from Episode 6, and then knit 4 more rows in stockinette stitch using off-white, color 1.
