Tying Knots with the Knoopster

Knoopster - It’s something completely different from crocheting or knitting, but perfect for all your colorful cords! Colorful bracelets, a glasses cord, a belt, or a hairband—the possibilities are endless! Do you want to tie the stars from the sky, too? Read on for the instructions.

With this Prym Knoopster, you can easily make the most beautiful cords. It’s a bit like knitting with a loom, but it’s much more fun. You don’t have to wait long to see the results—with the Knoopster, you see them right away! The star is easy for children to use and, of course, makes a great gift.

Before you start knotting, gather 7 strands of thread in your favorite colors. Choose contrasting shades for plenty of variety, or more similar colors for a calmer look. The cord is also ideal as a drawstring for your Mochilla or Tapestry bag.

Material:
- Prym Buttonhole Maker
- Yarn in needle sizes 3–4, for example: Phildar Coton 3 or 4, SMC Catania, Katia Capri.

Tips:
- Make sure to pull the cord coming out of it tight
- also, occasionally tighten the chain stitches on the sewing machine
- The threads get tangled easily; after each stroke, take a moment to untangle the thread with your hand—this prevents irritation

Getting Started with the Button Maker:

Step 1:
Tie 7 threads together and thread the button through the hole in the center of the star.

Step 2:
Thread a wire through each slot. Leave one slot empty.

Step 3:
Remove the third strand in front of the open slot and thread it through the open slot (clockwise).

Step 4:
Repeat step 3.

Now repeat steps 3 and 4 until you think the cord is long enough.

Have fun sewing!
