Mix 'n Match CAL 2016 - The year has just begun, which means we’re once again at the start of a year full of creativity, inspiration, and, of course, the most fun projects! Just like in previous years, there are a number of “crochet-alongs” kicking off this year as well. The Mix 'n Match CAL 2016 is one of them. Read all the details here.
Two years ago, Tertia and Jolanda launched the Crochet Along 2014. It has since become such a success that a blanket has now been designed for the third time to crochet along with. Tertia has decided not to continue, but Jolanda has also crocheted a beautiful blanket for 2016. Together with her partner Naomi, they are organizing the Mix 'n Match CAL 2016, and another surprising blanket is on the agenda.
What You Need to Know About the 2016 Mix 'n Match CAL
The blankets being designed are crocheted using SMC Merino Extrafine 120. Armed with a size 4 Crochet Hook, both Jolanda and Naomi choose 5 different colors. Jolanda goes for a combination of purple shades, and Naomi for shades of blue. It takes 5,000 meters of yarn to make one blanket, and you’ll need to master the basic stitches because it’s guaranteed to be a mix (and match!) of all kinds of stitches!
The Mix 'n Match CAL 2016 starts on Friday, January 8, and guarantees 40 weeks of crocheting fun. With a short break in the summer, you’ll have weekly patterns to keep you busy for almost the entire year. Each week, you’ll crochet about 6 rounds.

Alternative Yarns
Of course, you can make exactly the same blanket as Naomi and Jolanda, but isn’t it fun to put your own spin on it?! You can choose different colors, or even different yarns. Good alternative yarns include SMC Bravo and SMC Catania, but you can also opt for Stylecraft Special DK or Phil Coton 4. Choose your favorite yarn in attractive colors and make a blanket in your own style!
