Star Stitch | Crochet Pattern and Video Tutorial

These stitches will make your eyes sparkle. Not because they’re difficult, but because you’re… crocheting stars! The star stitch adds a beautiful texture to your projects. We’ll show you how to crochet the star stitch—want to join us?

The star stitch is also known as the marguerite stitch. As with so many stitches, the star stitch isn't difficult at all once you get the hang of it. The star stitch is perfect for crocheting blankets, scarves, cushions, bags, and hats.

TIP: If you want to use the star stitch in your projects—for example, in a blanket—it’s important not to crochet the stitches too tightly. This prevents your crochet project from “pulling.” If you crochet a gauge swatch using the star stitch beforehand, you can be sure this won’t happen.

Video Tutorial
In the video below, you'll see how to crochet the star stitch.

Materials
used:
Yarn and Colors Happy in the color antique pink (48)
6.5 mm Crochet Hook

Notes
:
You always crochet the star stitch with a number of chain stitches that is divisible by 2. You always start your work with 3 extra chain stitches. The star stitch is a fairly tight stitch, so use a Crochet Hook that is at least half a size larger than the one indicated on the yarn label.
