Designer Sue Pinner is the lucky one who got to create the design for the new Stylecraft CAL this time. Inspired by carousels and the circus, she has designed a beautiful blanket. Across 6 patterns, you’ll be guided through the festive crocheting of the Carousel Blanket, where color takes center stage and various geometric shapes are combined.
But how does a design like this come about? Sue Pinner arrived at her design in a unique way. She played around with ideas, did some old-fashioned cutting and pasting with paper and cardboard, and created several crocheted versions. The result is a colorful, festive blanket featuring the distinctive red and cream-colored sections.
Everything You Need to Know About the CAL - Carousel Blanket
As is customary for a Crochet Along, the pattern will be released in several stages. Below, we’ve listed all the dates, the materials you’ll need, and the dimensions of the blanket. The first pattern will be posted online on Tuesday, September 13, so make sure you’re ready!
Patterns:
- A total of 6 patterns will be published. The first two patterns will be published 7 days apart, followed by the remaining parts every other week.
- The patterns will be posted online on Tuesday, September 13 and 20, October 4, October 20, November 1, and November 15.
- The patterns will be available for download at 10:30 a.m. from the Stylecraft website.
Yarn:
The blanket is designed using two different yarns: Stylecraft Special DK and Stylecraft Batik. This 100% acrylic yarn is soft to the touch, and its light weight makes it ideal for projects such as blankets.
Dimensions:
When you start a project, you naturally want to know how big the final result will be. While everyone’s crochet style is different, we can still give you a rough estimate of its size. The Blanket will be approximately 152 cm wide.
