When you're looking for a spring crochet project that is quickly made, this is the right pick! What's better than crocheted summer clothing that wears comfortably and keeps your little girl cool during warm days? This cute little girls' top is super cute and makes a great combination together with a skirt or shorts.

What do you need?

Materials:

Sizes and number of balls
a) 4 years - 3 balls
b) 6 years - 4 balls
c) 8/10 years - 5 balls
d) 12 years - 6 balls
e) 14/16 years - 7 balls

The composition of this model is 100% cotton.

Stitches used
Chain stitch (ch)
slip stitch (sl st)
single crochet (sc)
half double crochet (hdc)
double crochet (dc)
double crochet 2 together (dc 2tog)
double treble crochet (dtc),
double crochet 3 tog (dc 3tog)

Swatches
Important if you want to achieve the right sizing.
4.5 cm in fantasy st 1, crochet hook 3mm = 10 st (1 pattern) and 2 cm = 2 rows.
10 cm in fantasy st 2, crochet hook 2.5mm = 22 st and 11 rows.

Free Crochet Pattern Girls Top

Back
Chain a) 71 sts – b) 81 sts – c) 91 sts – d) 101 sts – e) 111 sts with crochet hook 3mm and continue in fantasy stitch 1 (see diagram).

You now have a) 7 sts – b) 8 sts – c) 9 sts – d) 10 sts – e) 11 sts.

When the work measures 7.5 cm (8 rows), work 1 row in sc and decr 1 st (1 sc less in one of the arches).

You now have a) 70 sts – b) 80 sts – c) 90 sts – d) 100 sts – e) 110 sts.

When the work measures 8cm (9 rows), continue with fantasy stitch 2 and crochet hook 2.5mm (diagram 2).

On either side, decrease sts as follows (use dc 2tog, see tips):
a) Each 4th row: 4x1 st
b) Each 4th row: 5x1 st
c) Each 4th row: 6x1 st
d) Each 6th row: 3x1 st, and each 4th row: 2x1 st
e) Each 6th row: 2x1 st, and each 4th row: 4x1 st

You now have a) 62 sts – b) 70 sts – c) 78 sts – d) 90 sts – e) 98 sts.

When the work measures a) 27cm (30 rows) – b) 29cm (32 rows) – c) 32.5cm (36 rows) – d) 36cm (40 rows) – e) 38cm (42 rows), cast off for the armholes on either side every row as followed:
a) 1x5 sts, 2x3 sts, 3x2sts, and 1x1 st
b) 1x5 sts, 1x4 sts, 2x3sts, and 5x1 st
c) 1x5 sts, 1x4 sts, 2x3sts, and 6x1 st
d) 1x6 sts, 2x3 sts, 1x2sts, and 8x1 st
e) 1x6 sts, 1x4 sts, 1x3sts, 1x2 sts, and 8x1 st

In the meantime, when the work measures a) 33cm (37 rows) – b) 37cm (41 rows) – c) 42cm (46 rows) – d) 48cm (53 rows) – e) 52cm (57 rows), for the neck skip the middle a) 18 sts – b) 20 sts – c) 26 sts – d) 34 sts – e) 38 sts, and work the shoulders separately. In the next row, on the inside, cast off (by working sl st) as follows:
a) 1x1 st
b) 1x2 sts
c) 1x2 sts
d) 1x3 sts
e) 1x4 sts

When the work measures a) 35cm (39 rows) – b) 39cm (43 rows) – c) 44cm (48 rows) – d) 50cm (55 rows) – e) 54cm (59 rows), break the yarn and pull through the last loop.

Finish the other shoulder in the same way.

 

 

Front
Work in the same way as the back, up to the armholes.

When the work measures a) 27cm (30 rows) – b) 29cm (32 rows) – c) 32.5cm (36 rows) – d) 36cm (40 rows) – e) 38cm (42 rows), cast off for the armholes on either side every row as follows:
a) 1x5 sts, 2x3 sts, 3x2sts, and 1x1 st
b) 1x5 sts, 1x4 sts, 2x3sts, and 5x1 st
c) 1x5 sts, 1x4 sts, 2x3sts, and 6x1 st
d) 1x6 sts, 2x3 sts, 1x2sts, and 8x1 st
e) 1x6 sts, 1x4 sts, 1x3sts, 1x2 sts, and 8x1 st

In the meantime, when the work measures a) 31cm (35 rows) – b) 35cm (39 rows) – c) 40cm (44 rows) – d) 46cm (51 rows) – e) 50cm (55 rows), for the neck skip the middle a) 18 sts – b) 20 sts – c) 26 sts – d) 34 sts – e) 38 sts, and work the shoulders separately. In the next row, on the inside, cast off (by working sl st) as follows:
a) 1x1 st

When the work measures a) 33cm (37 rows) – b) 37cm (41 rows) – c) 42cm (46 rows) – d) 48cm (53 rows) – e) 52cm (57 rows), break the yarn and pull through the last loop.

Galon
Chain a) 111 sts – b) 121 sts – c) 131 sts – d) 151 sts – e) 161 sts, using crochet hook 2.5. Work 3 rows in the gallon fantasy stitch (see the diagram). Break the yarn and pull through the last loop.


Detailed Explanation Galon:

Work over a number of st that is a multiple of 10 + 1.
Row 1: 3 ch (for the first dc), dc to end.
Row 2: sl st in the first 5 sts, worked in the back loop of the st, *1 flower in next st as follows: 1 sc, **4 ch, 1 dtc, 4 ch, 1 sl st**, repeat from ** to ** 3x, work 1 sl st in each of the next 9 sts*, repeat from * to * and end the row with 1 flower and 1 sl st in each of the next 5 sts. Break the yarn.
Row 3: start in the first sl st of row 2, make 1 sc in the first sl st, *4 ch, then in the st at the tip of the first leaf: 1 sl st, then **4 ch, 2 dtc tog (***3 yo, insert hook in the tip of the next leaf, pull through 1 loop, yo, pull yarn through 2 loops, yo, pull yarn through 2 loops, yo, pull yarn through 2 loops***, repeat from *** to *** 2x, yo and pull yarn through last 3 loops), 1 sl st in the tip of the next leaf**. Repeat from ** to ** 2x. Then 4 ch, skip 4 sl st of the 2nd row and make 1 sc in the next st, 4 ch, 1 dtc, 4 ch and 1 sc*. Repeat from * to * on the gallon.

 

Finishing
Close the seams and side seams.

Attach the gallon to the back and front neck opening, and leave enough of the gallon free for the shoulders.

Make a pull cord of 3 lengths of yarn held double, with a length of a) 119cm – b) 125cm – c) 132cm – d) 143cm – e) 151cm. Thread through the lace edge.
