Crocheting Amigurumi: Sjors the Soccer Player

Soccer player Sjors is one of the doll-style Amigurumi, and with him, we’re adding yet another new design to our collection. Crochet a chain of 6 sts. (Brown)

Shirt:

Alternate between White and Yellow every 2 rounds.
Row 1: Join a strand of white yarn to the first loop of Row 29 (insert your Crochet Hook from the top down). Start with 2 ch. (= 1 dc.), 3 dc., 2 dc. in the next st., *4 dc., 2 dc. in the next dc.* Repeat *-* 2 more times, 1 ch. Turn. (24 dc.)

Using white cord, crochet a chain of chain stitches. Crochet chains of different lengths, for example, 10 and 13 chain stitches.

Shoe with a leg: (2x)


Crochet in a spiral.
Row 1: Working with white, chain 7, 3 single crochets in the 2nd chain from the Crochet Hook, 4 single crochets, 3 single crochets in the last chain, continue on the other side of the chain and work 4 more single crochets (14 single crochets)
Row 2: 2 sc, then 3 sc, 4 sc, 2 sc, then 3 sc, 4 sc (20 sc)
Row 3: 2 sc, then 6 sc, 4 sc, 2 sc, then 6 sc, 4 sc (32 sc)
Row 4: 32 sts in the back loops. Change colors (Red)
Row 5: 32 sts.
Row 6: 32 sts.
Row 7: 4 sc, crochet 3 sets of 2 sc together, 11 sc, crochet 2 sets of 2 sc together, 7 sc (27 sc)
Row 8: 1 sc, 2 sc together, 1 sc, 2 sc together, 1 sc, 2 sc together, 8 sc, 2 sc together, 1 sc, 2 sc together, 5 sc (22 sc)
Row 9: Crochet 2 sc together, 1 sc, crochet 2 sc together, 1 sc, crochet 2 sc together, 14 sc (19 sc)
Row 10: Crochet 2 sc together, 1 sc, crochet 2 sc together, 14 sc. Change colors (Brown) (17 sc)
Fill up the shoe.
Rows 11 through 33: 17 sts. Bind off.
Continue filling the leg.

Fold the leg in half and crochet it closed with 8 single crochets.
Use a needle and thread to embroider the laces onto the shoes, and tie the ends into a bow.

Attach the legs to the body with single crochet.

Pants:


Row 1: Insert a strand of yarn into the first loop of row 40 of the body and crochet 36 single crochets using Blue yarn
Row 2: *5 sc, 2 sc in next st.* Rep.*-* (42 sc)
Row 3: *6 sc, 2 sc in the next st.* Repeat *-* (48 sc)
Rows 4 through 11: 48 sts.
Row 12: Crochet 33 sc, 2 ch, stitch over to your 10th st. of this row (center front); this forms one pant leg. Now continue crocheting in rows of 26 sc.
Rows 13–18: 26 sts.
Row 19: *5 sts, 2 sts in the next st.* Repeat *-* (30 sts). Fasten off.

Attach a strand of yarn for the other pant leg and crochet 6 rounds of 26 single crochets.
Row 7: *5 sc, 2 sc in the next st.* Rep.*-* (30 sc)

Arm: (2x)


Row 1: Crochet 6 single crochets into a magic ring using Brown yarn.
Row 2: Double all sts (12 sts)
Rows 3–4: 12 sts.
Row 5: Crochet the last 2 sts together (11 sc)
Row 6: Crochet the last 2 sts together (10 sc)
Row 7: Crochet the last 2 sts together (9 sc). Single crochet the sleeve a little.
Rows 8 through 19: 9 sts.
Row 20: 1 sc, *crochet 2 sc together* in the back loops. Repeat *-* (5 sc)
Fasten off and pull your yarn through the last stitch to close the sleeve.

Sleeve: (2x)

Alternate between white and yellow every two rows.
Row 1: Attach a white yarn to a front loop on row 20 (working from top to bottom) and crochet 9 single crochets.
Row 2: Double all sts (18 sts)
Rows 3 through 8: 18 sts. Bind off.

Hair:

Start with 11 ch., crochet back along your chain, and work 2 dc in each ch., starting in the 2nde l. from your Crochet Hook. Crochet 20 curls this way using black yarn. Attach the curls to the top of the head.

Eyes:

Embroider 2 eyelets using black yarn.
Attach the eyes between rows 10 and 11, spacing them about 2 cm apart. Would you prefer to use safety eyes for a little extra flair? Choose 6 mm safety eyes here.

Neusje:

Crochet 4 into a magic ring using brown yarn
Row 1: *1 sc, 2 sc in the next st.* Repeat from * to * (6 sc). Attach the nose just below the eyes.

Soccer crochet:

Row 1: Crochet 6 single crochets into a magic ring using White yarn.
Row 2: Double all sts (12 sts)
Row 3: *Double the first stitch, 1 sc.* Repeat from * to * (18 sc.)
Row 4: *2 sc, 2 sc in the next st.* Repeat *-* (24 sc)
Row 5: *Double the first stitch, 3 sc.* Repeat *-* (30 sc.)
Rounds 6 through 10: 30 v.
Row 11: *Crochet 2 sc together, 3 sc.* Repeat from * to * (24 sc)
Row 12: *2 sc, crochet 2 together* Repeat from * to * (18 sc). Stuff the ball.
Row 13: *Crochet 2 sc together, 1 sc.* Repeat from * to * (12 sc)
Row 14: *Crochet 2 sc together* Repeat *-* (6 sc)

Pull the yarn through the last 6 sts and close the ball. Fasten off.

Embroider the black areas onto it with a needle and thread.
