Crocheting a Baby Hat

Crochet a Baby Hat - Rattles, onesies, pacifiers... there are so many cute baby items to choose from. Haven’t found the perfect baby shower gift yet? Of course, you don’t want to show up empty-handed. Don’t panic—we have a great idea! Crochet this adorable baby hat.

With this free pattern, you can easily crochet an adorable baby hat. The rim is crocheted. We hadn’t seen this before, but it really ties the hat together. You get to choose the color yourself—so go ahead and get started!

This hat is suitable for a baby aged 6 to 12 months. The circumference is approximately 40 cm without stretching. If you want a larger size, use a thicker Crochet Hook or cast on more stitches.

Tools & Supplies:
-
2 balls of Phildar Partner 6
- size 5 Crochet Hook

Stitches used:
ch. = chain stitch
hv. = slip stitch
v. = single crochets
hst. = half double crochet
back relief stitch
relief stick for

Explanation of the relief stick:
To make relief double crochets, crochet a double crochet in front of or behind another stitch from the previous row. So, instead of inserting the Crochet Hook into the top of the stitch (through the loop), you insert it around the stitch from the previous row. This is easiest to do with double crochets and treble crochets. Insert your Crochet Hook from right to left behind or in front of the stitch, and then crochet your double crochet as usual.
