Best Crochet Yarn & Crochet Hook According to Stipenhaak

best Crochet Yarn

Last week, we kicked off our search for the best Crochet Yarn and the best Crochet Hook from Yarnplaza.com’s selection. This week, it’s Stipenhaak.blogspot.nl’s turn! What are her favorites?

Herriët from Stip & HAAK tested 10 different types of Crochet Yarn and 4 different Crochet Hooks for us. She used them to make gauge swatches so she could thoroughly try out the items we sent her. In the end, she chose her favorites and used them to crochet a super cute pair of cuddly toys. Curious? Read on and take a look!

Katia Capri & SMC Catania & Lana Grossa Cotone

All three are well-suited for Amigurumi. Katia Capri feels the stiffest. The colors are all beautiful, but Catania's have the most sheen. They're lovely yarns to crochet with.

Phildar Phil Coton 3

Phildar Phil Coton 3 is super soft! I crochet a lot of cuddly toys myself, and this is the perfect yarn for that. The colors are matte but very pretty.

DROPS Paris

Drops Paris isn't my favorite. The colors are a bit dull, and it tends to split. However, the yarn is well-suited for Blankets and large Amigurumi.

Rico Aran

Rico Aran is a pleasure to crochet with. The yarn is made of beautifully lustrous cotton, and the colors are gorgeous. It has minimal pilling, and Aran is particularly well-suited for blankets and large Amigurumi.

Rico Essentials Cotton

Rico Essentials Cotton has a beautiful sheen and is a lovely yarn for clothing. The yarn crochets loosely and feels fairly stiff.

Phildar Aviso

Phildar Aviso is a lovely, thick cotton yarn. The colors are matte but very beautiful. It splits slightly and is pleasant to crochet with.

Lana Grossa 80 & Lana Grossa 130

Lana Grossa 80 and 130 are both a lovely mix of Acrylic and Cotton in matte colors. The yarn has a nice round shape and crochets very well. It doesn't split when crocheted, and it's a beautiful yarn for clothing.

Best Crochet Yarn & Crochet Hook

"Out of all ten skeins, Phildar PHIL COTON 3 really stood out to me. I’ve been using this yarn a lot for my cuddly toys, and it’s definitely one of my favorites. It’s a joy to crochet with—the strand doesn’t split, it feels soft, and it has a beautiful sheen. It’s available in a wide variety of colors, all of which are lovely. It’s especially well-suited for crocheting cuddly toys and Amigurumi. This yarn also pairs well with Catania, Capri, and Cotone."
"When it comes to the Lana Grossa Softgrip, Prym, Clover Amour, and Lana Grossa Softgrip Special Crochet Hooks, the Clover Amour is my ideal Crochet Hook. I definitely don’t want any other one! This Crochet Hook is such a pleasure to use. The softgrip is slightly textured and feels wonderful in your hand. The flat part feels great under your thumb, so you don’t feel any pressure in your fingers or wrist. I highly recommend it!"

The result was different this time compared to last week, although the Clover Amour Crochet Hook seems to be a big favorite! For five weeks, we’ll be posting a message featuring the best Crochet Yarn and Crochet Hook, as recommended by a different blogger each week. Will there ultimately be an overall winner? We can’t wait to find out!
