Crochet a dreamy cowl with Lang Yarns Malou

Crocheting a cowl… We just can’t get enough of them this winter! And let’s be honest: you can never have too many cowls and scarves hanging in your closet, right? A cowl can add that little extra something to an outfit and keeps you warm in the cold. Want to crochet a stylish cowl like this yourself using Lang Yarns Malou? Read on for the free pattern!

The great thing about this cowl is that it looks super stylish, but it’s actually pretty simple to make. Anyone who knows how to crochet double crochets can get started on this right away!

A lovely, airy yarn with a felt-like texture gives the cowl its dreamy look and finishing touch. We chose Malou by Lang Yarns. Malou is wonderfully soft and available in beautiful winter colors. Another advantage is that each Ball goes a long way—you only need 2 Balls for the cowl!

What do you need?

Material:
- 2 balls of Lang Yarns Malou
- Crochet Hook size 10

Stitches used:
l. = chain stitch
hv. = slip stitch
st. = double crochet

Crochet Pattern for a cowl:

Crochet 52 sts and join the chain to itself with a slip stitch.
Row 1: Chain 3, skip 1 chain, and *crochet 2 double crochets, 1 chain, 2 double crochets in the next chain, skip 3 chains*; repeat from * to * 12 times. Join the row with a slip stitch in the top chain.
Row 2: 3 ch. Crochet 2 dc in each ch. of the previous row, 1 ch., 2 dc, and join with a sl st. in the top ch. Repeat Row 2 until the yarn runs out = 12 rows total.

Variations on the neck scarf

Would you like to crochet this cowl, but can’t find your favorite color in the Malou collection? Then check out Lana Grossa Yak Merino. It’s a great alternative! If you’d like to make the cowl with a nice, thick yarn (using a size 15 Crochet Hook), then Rico Fashion Gigantic Mohair is highly recommended!
