Ears
The ears are crocheted into a small piece of fabric. If your curls aren't curling nicely, you may be crocheting too loosely. In that case, try using a Crochet Hook that's half a size smaller.

Crochet this section back and forth. After each row, chain 1 and turn your work. This chain stitch does not count as a stitch.

Round 1: Using Pepper, chain 15. Now crochet 2 single crochets in each chain stitch along the chain. Your work will naturally start to curl a bit. Shape the curls nicely by twisting them clockwise. From this point, chain 25. Now, working on the first 14 chain stitches on the Crochet Hook, single crochet into each chain stitch to create a curl on the other side. You now have 2 curls with 10 chain stitches between them. Single crochet 10 times into these chain stitches.
Round 2: Turn your work. Crochet this entire row in the front loops, so that a few loops form on the underside of your work. Crochet the first 2 dc together. Round 5: Change the color to orange. Crochet 8 single crochets in the back loops of row 4.
Round 6: Starting with this round and continuing through the last round, we will crochet curls of 21l (21ste ch, is the turning chain). Crochet 2 dc in each of the 20 ch. In this round, crochet a curl in the 2the, 4the and 7the v. For all remaining stitches between the curls, crochet 1 ch-st each time.
Round 7: Crochet 8 double crochets into the back loops of row 6.
Round 8: Crochet a curl in the 1ste, 3the, 6the and 8ste v. For all remaining stitches between the curls, crochet 1 ch-st each time.

Now repeat rows 5 through 8, using the following color sequence each time: Sunglow, Pesto, Turquoise, Violet, and Deep Cerise. After the last row, crochet 1 more row of single crochet back into the back loops of the previous row. Fasten off.

Now attach the mane in place. Wrap the first curls around the horn and let the crocheted piece fall backward over the back of the head. Now sew it securely all around with small stitches in the appropriate color using single crochet.

Tail
: With Pepper, chain *29 sts (the 29th st is the turning chain). Now crochet 2 dc in each st back*.

Change the color to orange and repeat *until* one more time.
Do the same with the colors Sunglow, Pesto, Turquoise, Violet, and Deep Cerise. Finish up.

Now fold the ends together and tie a tight button in all the starting and ending threads, right at the beginning of the tail.

Now use Sparkle to crochet the starting section of the tail.

Round 1: Using Sparkle, crochet a magic ring of 6 sc, or do it this way: Chain 2. Crochet 6 sc in the first chain. Crochet 1 sl st in the first sc to form a circle of 6 sc (6).
Round 2: Crochet 2 single crochets in each single crochet (12).
Round 3: Crochet this row into the back loops, so that a few loops form on the outside of your work. Crochet 12 sc (12).
Round 4: Crochet 12 sc (12). Fasten off. Slide the cover over the beginning of the tail, then thread your ending yarn through the last 12 sc and pull tightly. Stitch the yarn through your work a few times to secure the tail firmly.

Now single crochet the tail firmly in the center of the back, starting at row 43, by working small stitches all around into the outer loops of row 3.

Ear
Round 1: Using Jade Gravel, crochet a magic ring of 6 sc, or do it this way: Crochet 2 chains. Crochet 6 sc in the first ch. Crochet 1 sl st in the first sc to form a round of 6 sc (6).

Row 10: Crochet the 6th and 7th stitches together, and the 13th and 14th stitches together (12).

Fold it flat. Do not stuff the ear. Crochet it closed with 6 ch. Now fold the bottom of your ear in half (the 1ste and 6the (right sides together) and single crochet them together with a small stitch. This will create a small fold in your ear.

Crochet another ear just like this one.

Secure the ears firmly on either side of the head between rows 3 and 4 of the curls using single crochet all around.

Star
Round 1: Using Sparkle, make a magic ring of 10 sc, or do it this way: Crochet 2 chains. Crochet 10 sc in the first ch. Sl st in the first sc to form a round of 10 sc (10).
Row 2: Crochet *1 sl st and 1 hdc in the first sc. Chain 2. Crochet 1 sl st in the first ch. Crochet 1 hdc and 1 sl st in the 2nd sc*. Repeat from * to * 4 more times until the end of the row. You have now crocheted a 5-pointed star.

Single crochet the star in place in the lower right corner of the unicorn's belly, as you see fit.
