With this week’s gloomy weather, it’s hard to imagine, but we’re heading back toward the best time of the year. Sun! Fasten off as described for the sleeve seams on the back panel. For lengths of -a) 5 cm, -b) 6 cm, -c) 7 cm, and -d) 8 cm, measure from the start of the sleeve cap, cut the yarn, and weave in the ends. Crochet the other sleeve the same way.
Assembling and finishing the crocheted cardigan:
Pockets: Chain 31 sts and crochet squares according to Chart A. When the total length reaches 12 cm, continue crocheting in bobbles according to Chart B, working in back-and-forth rows; chain 3 sts before the start of the 2nd row. After crocheting the 2 rows from Chart B, cut the yarn and weave in the ends. Crochet another pouch in the same way.
All seams are formed using flat-felled seams, except for the pockets, which are sewn in place using a straight stitch. Close the shoulder seams. Attach the sleeves by aligning the center of the top of the sleeve with the shoulder seam and the ends of the top of the sleeve with the start of the sleeve sets on the back and front pieces. Sew in place. Close the bottom of the sleeves and the side seams. Sew 1 pocket onto each front panel, along the bottom edge and centered on the sides.
Finishing: Crochet around the cardigan in bobbles according to chart b, using -a) 138 bobbles -b) 145 bobbles -c) 150 bobbles -d) 157 bobbles distributed as follows: crochet along the bottom edge of the back and front panels -a) 47 bobbles -b) 52 bobbles -c) 56 bobbles -d) 61 bobbles; crochet 29 bobbles along the length of each front panel; crochet -a) 33 bobbles -b) 35 bobbles -c) 36 bobbles -d) 38 bobbles along the necklines of the front and back panels. Crochet bobbles around the cuffs of the sleeves according to Chart B, using -a) 11 bobbles, -b) 12 bobbles, -c) 13 bobbles, -d) 14 bobbles. After crocheting the 2nd row of Chart B, cut the yarn and weave in the ends.
