Crochet a Granny Square Blanket with Phildar Partner 6

The Granny Square blanket adds an extra touch of coziness to any home. This classic crochet pattern was all the rage in the ’70s and has never really gone out of style, not even in winter. And that’s a good thing. How wonderful is the thought of snuggling up under this blanket and bringing a little bit of summer into your home? And best of all: any Haakster can make this Granny Square blanket.

The Granny Square blanket consists of squares with a round center in various color combinations. This means you use the same technique throughout and don’t have to bring out the entire blanket every time; instead, you sew the squares together later. We crocheted it using different colors of Phildar Partner 6. It’s wonderfully warm and colorful at the same time! But the pattern is also ideal for using up your leftover wool.

Dimensions:
Granny Square: 14 x 14 cm.
Blanket: approximately 125 x 180 cm, plus border

Here's how to crochet Granny Squares using different color combinations:
1. Crochet 6 sets of 20 hearts in colors 111, 037, 110, 041, 204, and 208.
2. Divide the 120 hearts among the 6 colors, making sure not to group the same colors together, and crochet row 2.
3. Sort the circles by color (5 circles per color) and distribute them among the other 6 colors, making sure no color appears twice; crochet row 3. If you don’t quite have enough balls, crochet row 3 using color 21.
4. Crochet rows 4 and 5 using color 32 (Ecru). Join the Granny Squares together on the fifth row, securing them with a slip stitch; the points are marked on the diagram.
