Free Crochet Pattern for a Scrunchie

You don't shop for the latest trends—you crochet them! Now that temperatures are rising and King's Day is just around the corner, we're sharing a free scrunchie pattern. Which of the five is your favorite?

Having a bad hair day or is it too hot to wear your hair down? A scrunchie is the perfect solution. Plus, it’s totally trendy. Our creative Charlotte has designed five scrunchies for you: two for King’s Day and three to add a pop of color to every other day, too. Choose your favorite yarn and color, and crochet this cool hair accessory.

Crochet this season's hottest hair trend: scrunchies

In the ’80s and ’90s, you saw them everywhere. And now they’re back: the scrunchie. In fresh, trendy colors like lilac, vanilla yellow, Old Pink, and the green and blue of the gemstones larimar and aventurine. And classic basic colors like black, taupe, and cream.

The scrunchie is a favorite hair accessory because it’s so versatile. Whether your hair is long or short, curly or straight. With a scrunchie, you can create a relaxed bun for a casual look or go for a sporty style with a high ponytail. A low ponytail, a half-updo, a braid… don’t be afraid to experiment and get creative with your scrunchie. Tip: Search online for “scrunchie hairstyles” and find lots of fun ideas.

2x Crochet Pattern for a King's Day Scrunchie

Just like the scrunchie, orange parties are making a comeback. With King’s Day this month and the World Cup in six months. Especially for these orange-themed parties, Charlotte designed an orange scrunchie with a bow and a red-white-blue-orange version. Not only is it a trendy accessory for yourself, but it’s also fun for your little girl during the King’s Day Games, for example.

Crochet Pattern: Must-have Scrunchie

The first yarn we reached for when designing a scrunchie: Yarn and Colors Must-have. It’s one of our favorite crochet cottons because of its excellent quality, the subtle sheen of the yarn, the endless color palette, and the great price. For less than three euros, you can crochet a scrunchie in your favorite color. Or go all out and crochet an entire collection so your hair accessory always matches your outfit.

Charming Scrunchie Crochet Pattern

Slightly thicker, slightly softer, and—thanks to its distressed look—perhaps a bit trendier than the Must-have, the Yarn and Colors Charming is a really fun yarn for making a cool scrunchie for young girls (and anyone who feels young ??). The ball is made of Cotton and Acrylic and costs less than four euros. And of course, you can download the pattern for free.

Chunky Chenille Scrunchie Crochet Pattern

The softest and most affordable scrunchie in our pattern collection is the one made from Chunky Chenille. It’s a yarn with a velour-like appearance that comes at a very affordable price. Using this yarn gives your scrunchie a completely different, voluminous look. The Chunky Chenille color palette has recently been expanded with new colors. You’re sure to find something you’ll love.
