Lana Grossa 130 "I used the Cotton Mix 130 to crochet a little flower on the baby hat. The yarn is a pleasure to work with. It’s wonderfully supple and soft—even more supple and soft than the Cotton Mix 80. This is a yarn I’d definitely like to use more often. It’s perfect for clothing because it feels so nice, and especially for baby clothes. I highly recommend it!"
Lana Grossa 80 "A nice, thick, and soft yarn. It feels really nice to the touch. The yarn splits a little, but that’s certainly not a problem. This yarn is thicker than the Cotton Mix 130 and therefore has a decreased length. I used this yarn to crochet the baby hat."
Rico Aran "Rico Creative Cotton Aran is a pleasure to crochet with. The yarn is soft. It's much easier to crochet with than DROPS Paris, which looks very similar."
Phildar Phil Coton 3 "Thanks to the added aloe vera, this yarn is wonderfully soft and gentle on the skin—and it's 100% Cotton! It's a joy to crochet with!"
Rico Essentials Cotton "I used this yarn to crochet a bracelet. Its beautiful sheen makes it a striking yarn, which is why I think it's perfect for making jewelry."
SMC Catania"This yarn also has a beautiful sheen and is a pleasure to crochet with. It's perfect for Amigurumi and smaller projects. I used it to crochet a heart garland myself."
Lana Grossa Cotone "This yarn is very similar to SMC Catania. It also has a beautiful sheen and is a lovely Crochet Yarn. I used this yarn for the Early Birds bird."
Katia Capri "Katia Capri is a bit stiffer than SMC Catania and Lana Grossa Cotone, but it pairs well with both yarns. I also used this yarn for the Early Birds bird."
Phildar Aviso "Phildar Aviso splits easily and is quite stiff. Still, the yarn feels soft and pleasant to the touch. I used this yarn to make a holder for my phone charger." DROPS Paris "For me, DROPS Paris is the least favorite of the 10 yarns I tested. Although the yarn looks nice, it’s very stiff to crochet with and splits easily."
Best Crochet Yarn & Crochet Hooks
"I find the Lana Grossa Cotton Mix 130 to be a surprisingly nice yarn, and it comes out on top for me. It seems like it would be wonderful to crochet clothes with, and I definitely want to use this yarn more often for my crochet projects. The Cotton Mix 130 is highly recommended, and I can recommend it to everyone! The same goes for the Cotton Mix 80, which takes a well-deserved second place."
"For this test, I evaluated four Crochet Hooks: Prym, Lana Grossa Softgrip, Clover Amour, and Lana Grossa Design Color. Even though it’s the only Crochet Hook in the test without an ergonomic handle, the Prym is a great Crochet Hook. Since I crochet a lot and also have arthritis, I would be more likely to choose a Crochet Hook with an ergonomic handle. The Prym is a good Crochet Hook and there’s nothing wrong with it, but in this test, it can’t compete with the other contenders, so I’m ranking it fourth—and therefore last." "In third place is the Lana Grossa Softgrip. Thanks to its round, ergonomic handle, this Crochet Hook is very comfortable to use. It differs little from the Lana Grossa Design Color, which is also included in the test. At first glance, the two Lana Grossa Crochet Hooks differ only in color: while the standard Softgrip is available in black, the Design Color comes in all kinds of trendy colors. The Crochet Hooks also differ in another way: the Design Color doesn’t have a round handle, but an octagonal one. Thanks to this octagonal handle, the Lana Grossa Design Color actually feels more comfortable in the hand. I did have to get used to it, though." "The battle for first place between the Lana Grossa Design Color and the Clover Amour is a tough one. On the one hand, the Clover Amour feels just a little better in the hand. The handle is softer, which keeps my hand more relaxed while crocheting. In terms of ergonomics, the Clover Amour would therefore win. On the other hand, the Lana Grossa Design Color produces prettier results. When crocheting with the Design Color, I got finer stitches, which makes the project look better. So it’s a tough choice! In the end, I’m going with comfort, and the Clover Amour takes first place.”
