Crochet knitting is all the rage! You see them everywhere these days—cables in all shapes and sizes. In your home decor, your clothes, as jewelry, or in your accessories. A nice, chunky cable pattern is best for a bold look, but the small, delicate cables work well too. How about a cute cardigan with a cable pattern or a chic Hat? This time, we’re focusing on home decor and crocheting a trendy cable-patterned pillow for your home. Want to know how to crochet a cable pattern? Read the instructions here!
This trendy cushion is crocheted with Katia Peru. Peru is a sturdy yarn made of wool, Acrylic, and Alpaca, and is ideal for creating home decor. Here, we’ve chosen Rata, color 11, but there are plenty of neutral shades to style your home with! For this Cushion, we’ll be crocheting using a cable pattern. It’s a challenge, but the result is absolutely beautiful when done right. We recommend this pattern for advanced Haaksters.

Cable Crochet - Crochet Pattern for a Cushion:
Instructions for the relief stick:
To make a "front relief double crochet," crochet a double crochet in front of another stitch from the previous round. (In this pattern, it’s not the previous round but two rounds below.) So, you don’t insert the Crochet Hook into the top of the stitch (through the little “v”) but around the stitch from the previous round. This is easiest with single crochets and treble crochets. Insert your Crochet Hook from right to left in front of the stitch and then crochet your single or treble crochet as usual.
Start with a chain of 48 ch. + 1 ch. using a size 8 Crochet Hook, or a size 7 Crochet Hook but work very loosely. If you want it larger or smaller, make sure your chain is divisible by 16 + 1.
Crochet the rest of the cable cushion using size 7 Crochet Hook
After each round, crochet a chain stitch.
Round 1: 48 sts.
2nd row: and all even rows: 48 sts.
3rd row: 1 sc, 2 rstkv., 2 sc, 6 rstkv., 4 sc, 2 rstkv., 4 sc, 6 rstkv., 4 sc, 2 rstkv., 4 sc, 6 rstkv., 2 sc, 2 rstkv., 1 sc (stitch the double crochet around the sc 2 rounds below, i.e., in the odd round.)
Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
Round 7: 1 sc, 2 ch-sp, 2 sc, *skip 3 ch-sp, crochet 3 ch-sp (Photo 1), now crochet the 3 ch-sp you skipped (in the order you would normally crochet them) (Photo 2)* 4 sc, 2 tr, 4 sc, rep *-*, 4 sc, 2 tr, 4 sc, rep *-*, 2 sc, 2 tr, 1 sc

Row 8: 48 sts; when working the cable, make sure to crochet all 6 sts. (Photos 3 and 4)

Row 9: Repeat Row 3. For the cable, first crochet the bottom single crochet, then the top single crochet. (You’ll need to push the top single crochet slightly to the side.) (Photo 5)

Rows 10 through 60: Repeat rows 2 through 9 alternately. End with row 4.
Row 61: This is actually a row of single crochets crocheted all the way around the Cushion. So, at the end of row 60, turn and crochet 48 single crochets; in the corners, crochet 3 single crochets, and continue this way all the way around the Cushion. Fasten off.
Back:
Chain 48 sts + 1 st using a size 8 Crochet Hook, or use a size 7 Crochet Hook but work very loosely.
Crochet 60 rows of 48 single crochets; when the piece is finished, crochet another row of single crochets around the edge. Fasten off.

Finishing:
Place the two pieces with the wrong sides together and crochet a lobster stitch along three sides; slip the cover over a 50 x 50 cm Cushion and crochet the last side closed.
Enjoy your cushion!
