Additional instructions for crocheting a nopje:
*Yarn over, insert hook, and pull up a loop*, repeat from * to * 2 more times. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the 7 loops on your Crochet Hook.
Finish:
Using Crochet Hook no. 3, crochet the shoulders and sides together using the zigzag stitch = insert the Crochet Hook first into one section, then into the other; crochet * 1 single crochet, 2 chain stitches *; repeat from * to *. Do not decrease on either side for 22–23–24–25 cm before the armholes.
Finishing the armholes
Using hook size 3, crochet in the round around the armhole (close each round with a slip stitch). Crochet 4 rounds of single crochets with 60–64–66–68 stitches.
Finishing the neckline and fastening the front panels
Using hook size 3, crochet single crochet stitches along the entire length of the right front panel (72 single crochet stitches), around the entire neckline (56–59–62–65 single crochet stitches), and along the length of the left front panel (72 single crochet stitches) = a total of 200–203–206–209 single crochet stitches.
>Buttonholes
On the 3rd row, space 5 buttonholes along the length of the right front panel. For each buttonhole, crochet 3 chain stitches and skip 2 single crochets from the previous row.
After crocheting the 4 rows, cut the yarn and weave in the ends neatly. Now all that's left is to sew on the buttons.
