Koalas’ Habitat Devastated
: An Ode to All Koalas! Most people always think of koalas with a smile because they look so cute, but lately, that smile has been accompanied by a tear. Koalas in Australia are struggling due to the fires that are destroying their habitat. Once the devastating fires have been extinguished, there will still be a lot of work to do to restore the habitat so that not only koalas but also kangaroos can have a home again. With this crocheted koala, we want to draw extra attention to this issue.

Save the koala and donate to the World Wildlife Fund
WWF: An estimated 1 billion mammals, birds, and reptiles have perished in the Australian wildfires. On the WWF website, you can make a one-time donation to help the Nature Fund restore the habitat. They do this by, among other things:

  • Planting the first 10,000 trees in a critical habitat for koalas.
  • Emergency care and medication for injured koalas.
  • Protecting existing forests and the animals that live there.
