Coffee & Wool S01 - Episode 8

Time really flies; we’re already up to episode 8 of “Coffee and Wool”! This time, it’s packed with inspiration for summer. Saskia is crocheting a beautiful summer scarf, and Petra is knitting a stylish shrug. Of course, Lotte is joining us again this week. She’s getting to know the Facebook group “De Anonieme Sjaal” and, in true group style, is leaving a scarf behind for a lucky finder.

In this blog, you'll find everything about Episode 8, including:

- The Crochet Pattern for the Cool Wool Summer Scarf
- The Knitting Pattern for the Tendresse Shrug
- Rows 13 and 14 of the Coffee and Wool Stitch Scarf

Saskia is crocheting this lovely summer scarf with Lana Grossa Cool Wool Baby. This yarn is wonderfully soft and made from pure, extra-fine merino wool. She’s in love with the color combination of mint and pink, and the fringe sways beautifully in the wind! Thanks to the delicate pattern and the use of a thicker Crochet Hook, the scarf remains nice and airy.

Summer scarf material:
- 5 balls of Lana Grossa Cool Wool Baby (blue, color 230)
- 1 ball of Lana Grossa Cool Wool Baby (Pink, color 225)
- Crochet Hook No. 4

Coffee & Wool Knitted Scarf

Every week, Saskia crochets a new section of the Coffee and Wool stitch scarf. This week, she’s already on rows 13 and 14! After last week’s repeat rows, it’s time for the lily-of-the-valley pattern. For row 13, Saskia is using color 588, and row 14 is in color 431 (from Lana Grossa Merino Superfein).
If you're crocheting with a single color, you'll need to reattach the yarn so that the flowers are on the front. That way, the flowers really stand out.

Row 13: Join with light green. Chain 3 and crochet a treble crochet in the first stitch. *In the arch of the previous row, crochet (2 double crochets worked together, 3 chain stitches, 2 double crochets worked together). Repeat from * 13 times. Crochet a treble crochet in the last stitch.

Row 14: Join with white yarn. Chain 2 and crochet a double crochet in the first stitch.*In the chain space from the previous row, crochet a slip stitch**, chain 3. Repeat from * 13 times. Crochet a double crochet in the last stitch. ** A slip stitch: Wrap your hook around the yarn, stitch through the chain arch, and pull the yarn through. Repeat this 4 more times. Pull your hook through 10 loops (2 loops on the hook). Pull the loop through and pull your hook through the last 2 loops.

A new episode of "Koffie & Wool" is posted online every Friday. The next episode will be on May 8, 2015.
