Crochet Pattern: Lantern
Start with the Durable Glam and crochet 55 single crochets to form a small ring.
Crochet 1 round of single crochet and 2 rounds of double crochet here. Fasten off. (55 double crochet)
Next, we’ll crochet 11 strips, which we’ll attach to our last round. Each strip is a different color and consists of 6 sc, 1 ch, and 20 rounds.
Attach a strand of yarn to *6 sc + 1 ch.* Repeat *-* until you have 20 rows. Fasten off. Take a different color and crochet 6 sc and 20 rows again, but start with your 1e v. at the stitch where you finished the previous color. Do the same with the following colors.
Once you've crocheted 11 strips, work a chain stitch with Durable Glam on both sides of each strip.
We're going to sew the strips back together using v. and Durable Glam; before we do that, we'll twist the strips. Attach a thread to the 1e Start with a strip and crochet *6 sc, 2 ch.* Then take the next strip and crochet 6 sc, 2 ch. Repeat *-* (88 sc).
Next row: 88 sts.
Take your large ring and crochet the bottom part of the lantern to the ring using 88 chain stitches.
Next: 2 rounds of 88 sts. Fasten off.
Now we’re back to the colored strips. Crochet the same color over the same color, then 6 v., 20 rounds. Skip 2 st. between each colored strip. On the strips, work the chain stitch again using Durable Glam.
Using the Durable Glam, crochet the strips together in a twisted pattern. Start in the 2nde Chain 1 from a strip and crochet 4 single crochets; crochet the last single crochet and the first single crochet of the next strip together; *4 single crochets; crochet the last single crochet and the first single crochet of the next strip together* Repeat from * to * (55 single crochets)
Next round: 55 sts.
1 round of 55 sc, followed by a final round of 55 sc to secure the lantern directly to the last ring.
Crochet a 25-chain strand and secure it to the last row so you can hang the lantern with it.
Finally, cut pieces about 20 cm long in the colors you like and attach them as tassels to the bottom of the lantern.
