Crochet the "Mille Colori" Summer Scarf - Summer vacation is almost here, so it’s high time to come up with a fun vacation project. But do you always have such a hard time deciding what to pack? Does it all just barely not fit in your suitcase, and do you have to choose between a dress and your crochet project? No worries! This summer scarf takes up very little space, and you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Perfect, right? Check out the patterns below.

Small space, big fun! This summer scarf made from Lang Yarns Mille Colori is the perfect vacation project. The skeins don’t take up much space, crocheting all the squares will keep you busy for a while, and once it’s finished, you can wear it right away! Cool, right?

What do you need?



Material:
- 2 balls of Lang Yarns Mille Colori Socks & Lace Lux, color 51
- size 4 Crochet Hook

Crochet Pattern for a summer scarf:

Crochet 18 Granny Squares.

Start with 8 chain stitches and close with 1 slip stitch.
Row 1: Crochet 2 single crochets in each chain stitch. Fasten off with 1 slip stitch. = 16 single crochets
Row 2: Chain 2, * chain 8, single crochet in the 4th single crochet from the previous row; repeat from * 3 times. Fasten off with a slip stitch.
Row 3: 2 chain stitches, 2 double crochets, * 5 chain stitches, 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, 3 double crochets; repeat from * 2 times. Chain 5 more, 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, and fasten off with a slip stitch.
Row 4 / Row 8: Crochet slip stitches to the last double crochet, then chain 2 and crochet 2 double crochets. In each corner, crochet 3 double crochets, chain 5, and 3 double crochets. In each of the 2 chain-2 spaces from the previous row, crochet 3 double crochets and chain 2. Fasten off with a slip stitch.

Crochet 4 half Granny Squares.

Start with 8 chain stitches and close with 1 slip stitch.
Row 1: Crochet 8 single crochets into the ring of chain stitches.
Row 2: 2 chain stitches, 4 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the 3rd single crochet, 8 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the 6th single crochet, 4 chain stitches, 1 single crochet in the last single crochet.
Row 3: 6 chain stitches, 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, 3 double crochets, 5 chain stitches, 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, 3 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, 1 double crochet.
Row 4 / Row 8: 6 chain stitches and 3 double crochets. In the corner, work 3 double crochets, 5 chain stitches, and 3 double crochets. In each of the 2 chain stitches from the previous row, work 3 double crochets and 2 chain stitches. Fasten off with a double crochet.

Key: single crochet, double crochet, chain stitch, slip stitch

Crochet the granny squares together using slip stitches, as shown in the diagram below.

Is your scarf completely finished? If so, you can crochet a border of single crochets around it.
