Crocheting a Mouse

Mark your calendar: October 4 is Animal Day! Your cat, dog, and even your goldfish deserve to be in the spotlight for a moment—and of course, that means gifts. In this blog, we’re going to crochet a mouse—a fun treat for your cat. Yarnplaza.com shows you exactly how!

Cats love anything that moves. They can keep themselves entertained for hours with just a ball of yarn or a simple ball. That’s why Yarnplaza.com has come up with a toy they’re going to love. It has all kinds of loose ends for hours of fun. What do you think? Our cats, at any rate, love it!

You'll need:

Crochet Mouse Pattern:

Start with the magic ring. If you find this difficult, you can also start with 4 chain stitches and close the loop with a slip stitch in the first chain stitch.

1st round: 6 dogs in the ring.
2nd row: 2 sts in each st (12)
3rd row: 1 sc, 2 sc in sc (18)
4th row: 1 st, 1 st, 2 sts in st (24)
Row 5: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, 2 sc in sc (30)
Rows 6 through 8 of the crochet pattern (30)
Row 9: 1 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc, 2 sc worked together (24)
10th and 11th rows of crochet (24)
12th row: 1 sc, 1 sc, 2 sc. Work together (18)
Put the stuffing inside.
13th and 14th rows of crochet (18)
15th: 1 sc, 2 sc, work together (12)
16th and 17th rows of crochet (12)
18th row: crochet 2 sts together (6)
19th row: crochet 2 sts together (3)

Fasten off the yarn by pulling it through the last 3 single crochets and tightening it.

Ears:
Start with 4 ch. + 1 ch.
1st row, 4th column
2nd row: Crochet 2 stitches together twice
3rd row, 2 sts, work together
Tie off the thread.

Attach the ears to the mouse's body using single crochet. Then attach the eyes and nose. Finally, use the leftover wool to make a tail.

We'd love to see your homemade cat toys. Send your photo to info@yarnplaza.com, and who knows—you might see your creation featured in our "Wool of Fame."
