There’s nothing better than going outside all bundled up in this crisp weather. A cozy hat is a must, so Saskia got to work. This simple design is crocheted in the round, so it’s made in one piece. At the end, you close the tube by sewing the stitches together, and voilà—your hat is finished.

Tools & Supplies needed to crochet a hat:
- 1 ball of Lana Grossa Olympia, color 46
- 10mm Crochet Hook
- Rico Faux Fur Pompon, Color 20

Crochet Hat Pattern
Start with 35 chain stitches (or the number of stitches needed for your head circumference). Join the chain with a slip stitch in the first chain stitch.
1 chain stitch, 1 half double crochet in each chain stitch. Close that round with a slip stitch and immediately work a half double crochet into the first half double crochet. Continue crocheting in the round; work a crocheted knit stitch* into the loop below the “little V.” Continue crocheting until the yarn runs out (or stop earlier if necessary); in the final round, work 1 single crochet in each stitch (including the bottom loop).
*You can find an explanation of the crochet knit stitch in this video.

Finish:
Using a thick needle and the remaining yarn, thread the needle through the loops of the chain stitch and pull it tight to close the hat. Attach the pom-pom to the hat and secure it on the inside of your work. Weave in the ends.
This hat looks great paired with Saskia's colorful cowl. Check out the pattern for the blue cowl here.
