Only Cotton Shawl - Free Crochet Pattern

The first stitch of each round consists of 3 chain stitches.

Crochet a chain of 5 sts. Join the chain in a circle with 1 sl st.
Row 1: 3 ch. instead of the first st., then 6 more st. in the ring = 7 st.
Row 2: 4 ch. instead of the first double crochet, and 2 more sts. in the last st. of the previous row. 1 st., 1 st., 3 sts., 1 st., 1 st., 2 sts., and 1 double crochet in the top ch. of the previous row = 13 sts.
Row 3: 2 ch. instead of the first st., and 1 more st. in the last st. of the previous row. 1 st. in each of the next 5 st. of the previous row, 3 st., 1 st. in each of the next 5 st. of the previous row, and 2 st. in the top ch. of the previous row = 17 st.
Row 4: Work 4 ch-st. instead of the first double crochet, and 2 more st. in the last st. of the previous row. Work 1 st. in each of the next 7 st. of the previous row, 3 st., 1 st. in each of the next 7 st. of the previous row, and 2 st. and 1 double crochet in the top ch-st. of the previous row = 23 st.

From here, continue crocheting using the same pattern until you have completed 29 rounds. You will then have 147 sts.

Row 30: Crochet the cluster stitch pattern. Start the row with 3 ch. instead of the first st., followed by 2 ch. and 1 cluster st. in the 2nd st.; at the end of the row, work 1 cluster st. in the second-to-last st., 2 ch., and 1 st. in the top ch. of the previous row.
At the tip (where you crochet 3 sts on every round), crochet 1 cluster st. each time, with 2 ch. between each one = 151 sts.

Now continue crocheting in the basic pattern as in rows 1 through 29. Start row 31 with 4 ch. instead of the first double crochet, and work 2 more sts. in the last st. of the previous row, working each st. into both ch. between the cluster sts. At the end of the row, work 2 sts. and 1 double crochet in the top ch. of the previous row = 157 sts.

After crocheting 49 rows, you will have 257 sts. Now crochet 2 more rows in the cluster stitch pattern, working the increases in the first cluster-st. row as described in row 30 = 261 sts.
In the second round, start with 4 ch. instead of the first double crochet, and 2 more sts. in the last st. of the previous round; work alternately 1 ch. and 1 cluster st. in the cluster st. from the previous round, crocheting 1 ch., 2 sts., and 1 double crochet in the top ch. of the last st. of the previous round.

Shawl Finish:
Dampen the shawl and stretch it out. Crochet around the edges with 2 rows of single crochet.
At the top of each bundle on the 30th row, tie 1 fringe. A fringe consists of 4 strands approximately 22 cm long. After tying the fringes, trim them evenly to 8 cm.
