Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing the Crochet Patterns for 5 unique Amigurumi birds. Last week, we started with the adorable penguin Pip. Time for bird number 2… Onno the stork! Another cutie! Will you crochet and collect them all?
Onno the Stork - Many crochet enthusiasts have already gotten started on bird number 1: Pip the Penguin! And we’ve really enjoyed seeing the beautiful results—you’re all doing a great job! Another week has gone by, so it’s time for bird number 2: Onno the Stork!
INFO: The birds are cheerful bag charms, so we’ll also attach a carabiner to them so you can hang these Amigurumi on your bag (or keychain)! Want to read the full instructions for this project (again)? Then head over to the blog post where everything about the 5 unique birds is explained. Or get started with bird number 1: Pip the penguin.
Onno
the Stork Onno is a real lucky bird—after all, this bird symbolizes birth, and a stork is known as a bringer of good luck! These are, of course, special qualities, but Onno has more to offer. He’s incredibly thoughtful, caring, and looks adorable. This bag charm is, of course, a fun treat for yourself, but it’s also perfect as a baby shower gift!

The heads and bodies of the birds are all crocheted using the same basic pattern. The rest (such as the beak, legs, wings, etc.) varies by bird, so you’ll get a new pattern each time. The goal is to crochet the bird so tightly that no stuffing is visible. Annemarie likes to crochet with a 2mm Crochet Hook. Using a small Crochet Hook naturally results in very tight stitches. Adjust your Crochet Hook size as needed to suit your crocheting style. The pattern is described below.
TIP: As an extra resource, we've made a video in which Annemarie (the designer of the Amigurumi birds) explains how to crochet Onno the stork.
