Crocheting Mushrooms—even though we were still enjoying summery temperatures last Monday, fall is making its presence felt more and more. To celebrate, Monique crocheted these beautiful mushrooms. Now that the days are getting shorter and colder, it’s a good idea to bring a little bit of the outdoors inside. Check out the free pattern!
Fall break is the perfect time to go mushroom hunting, and of course, the fly agaric is the ultimate prize. The search for this red-and-white-spotted specimen doesn’t have to be that difficult. You can simply whip it up with your Crochet Hook! And voilà—these crocheted mushrooms add a cheerful touch to a child’s room or give a surprising twist to a beautiful fall arrangement. Monique crocheted her mushrooms (about 13 and 24 centimeters tall) using Lana Grossa Cotton Mix 80. This cotton-acrylic blend is without a doubt one of the best Crochet Yarns in our collection—and the bloggers agree.
Please note: Unfortunately, Lana Grossa Cotton Mix 80 is no longer available. But of course, we have some fantastic alternatives. For example, try Yarn and Colors Epic or Yarn and Colors Fabulous.

Dots
Draw 15 dots.
Chain 3, work 4 single crochets in the first chain, remove your Crochet Hook from the loop and stitch it into the top chain of the 3-chain space, then stitch the Crochet Hook into the loop of your last single crochet, yarn over, and pull the yarn through both loops; chain 1 more. Don’t cut your yarn too short, and pull it all the way through the loop. Place the dots evenly across the hat and tie them securely on the inside using the threads you left hanging from each dot.
Finishing
Stuff the mushroom stem with stuffing. Take the cap and use slip stitches to attach it to the stem, using the loops from row 23. (To do this, insert your Crochet Hook from the gills into the loop of the cap.) At the same time, stuff the cap with stuffing.
Finally, crochet another round of chain stitches into the loops of round 12 of the stem (insert your Crochet Hook from round 12 to round 11).
