Designers Jolanda and Naomi van Haakplein have created a unique blanket inspired entirely by Greek mosaic tiles. In the center of the PentaPatch blanket are 5 circles (Penta), which, due to the different ways they’re joined together, are reminiscent of patchwork (Patch). Thanks to the variety of techniques and playful colors, this blanket is both a challenging crochet project and a real gem to look at! The PentaPatch Crochet Along starts on Friday, February 23, after which a section of the pattern will be released each week for 15 weeks on the Haakplein website and in the Haakplein Facebook group. Of course, you can join for free! The blanket is available in 4 shades. Check them out below!

The blanket is crocheted with Durable Comfy, a soft, lustrous yarn made from 100% microfiber Acrylic. The PentaPatch CAL is available as a complete kit in 4 color combinations, each inspired by phenomena from Greek culture. When does the PentaPatch CAL start?
The CAL starts on Friday, February 23. After that, a section of the pattern will be posted online each week for 15 weeks. Of course, you can crochet along at your own pace.
Where can I find the PentaPatch CAL patterns?
The PentaPatch CAL patterns will be posted online on the Haakplein.com website and in the Haakplein Facebook group.
How can you participate?
Participating in the CAL is free; you don't need to sign up to join.
What do I need?
The PentaPatch CAL is available as a complete Yarn Kit in four color combinations. The blanket is crocheted with a 3.5 mm Crochet Hook, which is not included in the Kit but can easily be ordered from us online!
Can I choose my own colors, too?
You can choose your own colors. For the blanket, you'll need a total of 20 Balls of Durable Comfy. The following color distribution was used for the original color schemes:
- Color 1: 4 Balls
- Color 2: 3 Balls
- Color 3: 6 Balls
- Color 4: 5 Balls
- Color 5: 2 Balls
How big is the PentaPatch blanket?
The blanket measures approximately 150 x 170 cm; depending on your crochet technique, the dimensions may vary.
Who is this blanket suitable for?
The Blanket pattern is suitable for intermediate crocheters and beginners who enjoy a challenge. The patterns will include written instructions, crochet charts, and a few videos.
